The Senior Accountant, based in Atlanta, GA, has a key role on a team that ensures the complete and accurate financial results of the company's monthly overall close processes, including logistic operations, financial reporting and analysis, and Balance Sheet Reconciliations. This role will have the opportunity to develop their accounting skills in a manufacturing environment as well as routinely work with all levels of management. In addition, this position will be accountable for executing internal controls in a SOX compliant environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Full cycle monthly accounting: Process and review standard and/or adjusting journal entries, general ledger accounts research, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial reporting. * Accounting for the company's logistics expenses and logistics expense related items for completeness and accuracy (rail, vessel, truck, and terminals). * Liaise with Commercial, Logistics, and Customer Services teams, ensuring accurate and timely accounting for Logistics expenses. * Develop processes and procedures to account for the company's export businesses, ensuring completeness and accuracy of the monthly export results. * Partner with internal resources to ensure the company's expenses are completed and accurate. * Maintain updated and accurate documentation for assigned responsibilities [i.e., account reconciliations, budget/forecast assumptions and calculations]. * Ensure accuracy of analysis and compliance with all standards and processes. * Assist in the timely delivery of complete and accurate monthly management accounts including P&L and other ad hoc. * Conduct and document complex ad hoc financial analyses, various special projects and initiatives. * Assist with fostering our culture of continuous improvement including partnering with internal and external resources in order to optimize our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and supporting systems. * Partner with internal customers to achieve corporate strategic initiatives as well as adhere to the monthly financial close schedule. * Assist with the quarterly reviews and annual audits. * Assist in executing financial controls and accounting procedures that meet required SOX standards. * Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline * MBA, CPA, CMA, CCA or similar certification required * Three to five (3-5) years of accounting and financial analysis experience. * Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills * Experience in financial statement analysis and a strong understanding of corporate finance concepts * High attention to detail and focused on data accuracy * Thorough knowledge of accounting and standard internal accounting control procedures * Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills * A self-starter who can work independently and efficiently on projects and key deliverables under time pressures and deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results * Advanced Excel skills required; Microsoft ERP experience preferred.
