Student Engagement Specialist - Montello Elementary School JobID: 3040 Position Type: Certified Professionals Date Posted: 7/18/2024 Location: Montello Elementary School (High-Needs School)   Additional Information: Show/Hide SUMMARY: The Student Engagement Specialist ensures parents and community members feel highly connected and well informed of their child's learning; feel included, educated, and informed of available services; feel welcomed and supported as their child's first teacher; and feel valued as a part of their child's educational experience. The Student Engagement Specialist supports a broad range of school and family coordination needs to best position students for academic success; this includes knowledge of community resources, experience referring to outside support services (case management, counseling, etc.), and knowledge of school policies related to attendance and truancy. The Student Engagement Specialist proactively pursues a culture of support so that all students and their families have positive learning experiences at Montello. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. * Design and implement systems of support for families to engage in their child's learning. * Build community partnerships to bridge support structures for the students and families of Montello. * Partner with administration to design collaboration mechanisms that provide families with consistent opportunities to learn about and give feedback on school systems, goals, and progress. * Coordinate opportunities for caregivers to be involved in the planning and implementation of school-wide events. * Attend and actively participate in school-wide leadership team meetings. * Analyze daily attendance reports to identify and support school-wide needs related to truancy. * Correspond with caregivers and school staff regarding attendance and family engagement issues. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and groups. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
