Description Title: Graduate Research Assistant (NHPoLA-IHLRT) Position Number: 0000GA11 Hiring Unit: Office of the President/ Native Hawaiian Place of Learning Advancement Office (NHPoLAO) Location: Manoa Date Posted: September 5, 2024 Closing Date: September 26, 2024 Salary: $2,245.50 per month/ $26,946 annually (Step 13) @ 20 hours per week Monthly Appointment Type 11-Month Part Time/ Full Time: Part Time Full Time Equivalency: 50% Temporary/ Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: This position is for an appointment of 11 months, to being as soon as possible; renewal of appointment is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, availability of funds, and meeting the eligibility requirements of the assistantship (for details , go to the UHM Graduate Division website Eligibility & Criteria | Graduate Division (hawaii.edu). Duties and Responsibilities: * Support the Institute of Hawaiian Language Research and Translation (IHLRT) in developing an Open Educational Resources (OER) textbook. This includes design layout, copyright checks, citation and bibliographic entry work, and incorporation of multi-media files, digital assets, and H5P activities. * Responsible for uploading and editing completed translations, newspaper clippings, and citations to the IHLRT translation database. * Support the Native Hawaiian Place of Learning Advancement Office (NHPoLAO) with office, campus, and system-wide events. * Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: * Acceptance or enrollment in a Master's or PhD program at the UH M?noa campus in good academic standing, if currently enrolled, with a 3.0 GPA or above, and making appropriate progress toward a degree. Pursuing a degree in Hawaiian Language, Hawaiian Studies, Library Information Sciences, Linguistics, History, English, Political Science, Communications, Education, Architecture, or any other related degree. * Hawaiian language proficiency. * Previous experience or has taken research classes using Hawaiian language primary resources. * Strong computer skills in desktop and web-based applications, including Mac and/or Windows OS, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Google Suite (Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.). * Strong writing skills and familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style. * Strong analytical and organizational skills. * Ability to set and adjust priorities and workflow in a dynamic and changing environment. * Works independently and can manage time effectively without supervision. * Ability to learn new skills quickly. Desirable Qualifications: * Experience in Pressbooks or publishing. * Experience with WordPress. * Experience in or has taken a Hawaiian translation coursework.
