DESCRIPTION The Hand Crew Assistant Superintendent recruitment is an Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) internal recruitment. ONLY applications from current, qualified OCFA non-probationary Fire Captains, non-probationary Fire Apparatus Engineers, and non-probationary Firefighters will be accepted. The OCFA is currently recruiting for the position of Hand Crew Assistant Superintendent to create a Candidate Pool List. The Candidate Pool List may be used to fill potential future vacancies. The Hand Crew Assistant Superintendent position will be utilized to fill a two (2) year administrative staff assignment. Extension of the administrative staff assignment is subject to the approval of the program manager. The position will work a 5/40 schedule in a two-week cycle. Work schedules may be adjusted based on organizational need. COMPENSATION Employees assigned to a Hand Crew Assistant Superintendent position will be eligible to receive Staff Assignment Pay (SAP) and Staff Incentive Pay (SIP). Please refer to the OCPFA Local 3631 - Part 1 : Specialty Position Pay Enhancements, Page 1 - Section 1(C) for additional information. The Hand Crew Assistant Superintendent is a subordinate leader on a hand crew that reports directly to the Hand Crew Superintendent. They are responsible for providing leadership and direction to Squad Bosses and Hand Crew Firefighters both on and off the wildland fireground. The Assistant Superintendent will work as a team member to plan and carry out moderate to complex wildland firefighting operations. Their role in this mission involves selection of tactics that support safe, efficient, and expedient fireline operations - from initial attack to mop-up and suppression repair. Assistant Superintendents are responsible for supporting the Superintendent and the crew in daily Hand Crew duties. These duties may include training, project work, and administrative functions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * CICCS Qualified Crew Boss (CRWB) * CICCS Qualified Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4) * CICCS Strike Team Crew (STCR) or Task Force Leader (TFLD) * OCFA non-probationary Fire Captain, non-probationary Fire Apparatus Engineer ornon-probationary Firefighter * Rating of Standard or higher on last employee performance review MINIMUM TRAINING (position requirements at entry): * I-200 * I-300 * S-200 * S-212 * S-215 * S-219, C-234, or CA-219 * S-230 * S-270 * S-290 * S-390 * L-280 * AH-330 MINIMUM EXPERIENCE (position requirements at entry): * Two (2) years of federal, state, or local wildland fireline experience.
