The aim of the Fellowship is to further the Fellow's legal practice training and career development through direct representation of immigrant youth who came to the U.S. unaccompanied, including: * Representing immigrant youth in juvenile court proceedings to determine if they were abandoned, abused, or neglected, * Representing immigrant youth in seeking humanitarian immigration status, and * Engaging in community intake and know-your-rights presentations to local immigrant rights organizations. * A strong interest in direct representation of immigrants before the immigration agencies and federal courts. * A demonstrated capacity for working with people from varied backgrounds and persuasions in dynamic situations. * Admission to the Louisiana bar or willingness to sit for the Louisiana bar exam at the next available exam date. * The ability to write and speak clearly and concisely. * Recent (within 2 years) JD or LLM. * Experience working in immigrant communities. * Experience in the immigration legal services field. * Foreign language competency.
