TITLE: Intramural Coordinator and Assistant Coach POSITION NO.: P09893 SECTION: Athletics/Student Affairs HIRING SALARY: $35,568.00 annually HOURS: Varies during the week and will require some work during the evenings, weekends and/or holidays. CONTACT: Human Resources (850) 201-8510 or via email at  hr@tsc.fl.edu MAJOR FUNCTION: The Intramural Coordinator/Assistant Coach is housed in the Lifetime Sports Complex and reports to the Head Coach. This position will Develops and coordinates intramural activities while planning, organizing, implementing and scheduling of the intramural programs. This will include hiring of officials, game management, and developing new, robust programs for the campus community, as well as other duties assigned by the Athletics and Campus Recreation Manager. Additional responsibilities include serving as an assistant coach. Primary duties will include, but are not limited to: * Provides oversight and supervision for the College's Intramural Programs, to include recruiting, hiring, processing, scheduling and supervising Intramural staff. Conducts official's training clinics, creates, updates and revises employee training manuals. * Develops new intramural programs, organizes schedules, implements and supervises programs, projects and recommends and maintains unit budget. Coordinates advertisements and marketing for programs and conducts evaluations of intramural programs. Maintains participant data and develops and implements user surveys. Stores, inventories and purchases recreation equipment for the Lifetime Sports Complex (LSC). Initiates purchase orders and maintenance work orders for AV equipment for intramurals and LSC and orders office supplies. Handles emergency situations, provides basic first-aid care and completes accident/incident reports. * Identify and recruitment of high-quality student athletes, assisting with all travel arrangements, practice and game preparation, breakdown and editing film of opponents, monitor and track academic progress of student athlete and promote, plan and execute summer camp. As well as other duties assigned by Head Coach. * Assists in the development, short-range and long-range planning, implementation and evaluation of Lifetime Sports programs in cooperation with Athletics, Student Affairs, Conference and Events, the Department of Sports Management, and other college officials. Speak to classes and at orientation about the Campus Recreation and Intramural Sports, including the positive effects of being involved in extracurricular activities. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical/Health Education, Nutrition or related field and two (2) years of work experience. A Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Recreation, Management, College Student Personnel, or a related area is preferred and may substitute for one year of the required experience. Experience hosting and managing successful events and supervising staff are also required. New hires must possess CPR/First Aid Certification or be able to obtain instructor rating within first six months of employment. Progressive leadership and administrative experience within a college's Student Affairs Department and Athletics is highly preferred. SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:  Knowledge and understanding of the standards and requirements of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA).  Knowledge of NCAA and NAIA transfer rules.  Knowledge of college curriculum and graduation requirements.  Knowledge of athletic recruitment, methods and techniques.  Excellent and proven leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills.  Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills. Proficient skills using MS Office Suite and operating a motor vehicle safely.  Ability to teach and demonstrate specific softball skills.  Ability to maintain an effective athletic program.  Ability to motivate a group of individuals and facilitate team-building.  Ability to communicate and work with young people.  Ability to work independently, as a team member and with other TCC coaches and athletic staff.  Ability to work effectively with diverse students, staff, faculty, and administrators.  Ability to monitor academic, athletic and personal development.  Ability to work long hours and weekends.  Ability to handle difficult and sensitive issues and resolve problems and conflicts.  Ability to handle high levels of stress and anxiety.  Ability to represent and promote the College's athletic team at conferences, FCSAA and NJCAA meetings, games, meets, and matches.  Ability to represent the division and the College in a positive and professional manner.  Ability to travel over night to team competitions.  Ability to participate in public relations activities, to include television and radio interviews, and press conferences, as appropriate.
