This position serves an Infrastructure Server Engineer, supporting the Illinois State Police (ISP). In this role, you will design, install, and implement complex server engineering relating to the Microsoft Active Directory and the server infrastructure. In addition, you will design, install, implement and manage the Microsoft SCCM product used for software distribution, inventory collection and monitoring of key system resources. In addition, you will design, install, configure and support the Storage Area Network (SAN). Essential Functions (cont.) 10% Designs, installs, configures, and supports the Storage Area Network (SAN): * Participates in all disaster recover planning and testing covering all aspects of the storage environment. * Designs, implements, and manages data, file, and security structure for various storage components. * Manages permissions, performs migrations, reclaims space, and documents environment. * Designs, implements, and manages data on Windows file servers, Storage Area Network (SAN), Cloud solutions, and other storage technologies. * Designs, implements, and manages data and file backup and retention infrastructure and methodologies. 10% Designs, installs, implements, and manages the Microsoft services used by the computing resources in the network including, but not limited to, DNS, and Active Directory: * Works with Security and Network technical specialists in assessing the impact that routine and enhanced changes with these services will have on the network. 5% Installs, configures, and manages the software securing the mobile device environment, keeping software up to date: * Makes recommendations on security enforcement for mobile devices and optimal software implementation. * Designs, installs, configures, and supports the SAN (storage) network. * Participates in Disaster Recovery planning and testing. 5% Provides advanced level of technical and problem determination support to the agency in the use of hardware and software products: * Diagnoses and resolves end user computers and server problems, and troubleshooting various software, hardware, and network issues. Provides advanced technical direction, guidance, and training for other technical support staff. 5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology (IT) field: * Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures. * Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations. 5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications * Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related field. * Requires three (3) years of professional experience in Systems Services or a related information technology field. Specialized Skills * Requires three (3) years of professional experience working with server and system processes. * Requires three (3) years of professional experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Storage Area Network, and Virtual Server technologies such as VMWare. * Requires three (3) years of professional experience diagnosing and resolving end user computers and server problems and troubleshooting various software, hardware, and network issues. Preferred Qualifications * Three (3) years of professional experience working with server and system processes. * Three (3) years of professional experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Storage Area Network, and Virtual Server technologies such as VMWare. * Three (3) years of professional experience diagnosing and resolving end user computers and server problems and troubleshooting various software, hardware, and network issues. * Extensive knowledge of disaster recovery planning and testing. * Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision. * Professional experience documenting technical processes and solutions. * Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with others.
