Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading supplier of building envelope solutions that effectively drive energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are looking for a Senior Scientist - Expanded Polystyrene to join our team in our Cartersville, GA facility. Job Summary: Provide technical support within the Carlisle Insulfoam business. Leverage technical experience in the expanded foam insulation market to support both external and internal customers. Develop innovative new products and building assemblies. Serve as a subject matter expert for both new product development and manufacturing process expertise. Collaborate and participate on cross functional teams to support strategic plans and business objectives. Duties and Responsibilities: * Primary responsibility includes the fabrication and testing of product samples, prototypes and assemblies. This is a hands on role requiring the use of both laboratory testing equipment as well as construction power tools including, but not limited to, saws, drills, hot wire cutters, tape measures, and other fastening devices. Mechanical aptitude and a desire to be hands on is required. * Collaborate with multiple functional areas (including manufacturing, purchasing and sales) to establish strategic plans and objectives for insulating materials and system solutions. * Work with Code Compliance Manager to support solutions in residential, commercial and geofoam applications. * Provide guidance to technicians on product development and troubleshooting. * Solve problems of diverse scope, including product/process development, product/process improvement, field issue resolution, manufacturing efficiencies, and outsourcing support. * Serves as an industry expert consultant for architects, engineers, contractors, homeowners, customers, and others. * Hosts product webinars, seminars, and training classes. * Provide industry support through participation in ASTM, SPRI, EPSIA and other organizations. * Develop and deliver design advances for product and process development. * Network internally and externally, to acquire information for projects and identify future opportunities. * Identify new opportunities to provide the basis for technical projects; includes transformational and incremental advances. * Operational and Supply Chain support. * Develop and maintain project schedules, incorporating key tactical items for other functional areas. * Present technical information to a non-technical audience, and effectively present complex or conflicting information. * Foster new product introductions and scale-up process from concept to commercialization. * Utilize Phase-Gate process to manage R&D portfolio in addition to other appropriate project management tools. * Perform laboratory work including statistical data analysis, fabrication of prototypes, structure/property testing and root cause investigation. * Conduct review meetings as is necessary to ensure that the Product and Process Development priorities are aligned with those of management of the functional areas (Administration, Sales and Marketing, Operations, Logistics, Quality, EH&S, etc.) * Other duties as assigned by R&D Director. Working Conditions: * The basic work environment is an office and laboratory with an average of 1 week of travel per month (although more travel may be required on occasion). The environment demands that multiple projects be worked on at the same time. Product evaluations will require travel to manufacturing facilities and customer construction sites. Travel Requirement: * Travel is required for this position; on average 1 week per month is expected. #LI-MW1
