About This Role: Provide daily care, husbandry, and support to the laboratory animals at Veranex Preclinical Services site, Atlanta. This position will interact on a regular basis with Veranex Preclinical Services (PCS) Atlanta's other technical positions, research scientists, and faculty to manage the in-life in vivo portions of the research and customer service. What You Will Do: * Reviews medical records and research data for accurate documentation and data collection. * Provide daily care to laboratory animals including feeding, watering, and cage cleaning. * Maintain accurate daily records of animal health as well as all SOP and regulatory required documents. * Sanitize animal rooms, cages, and other equipment to maintain a healthy environment for animals. * Operate sanitizing equipment, environmental housing equipment and research related equipment. * Interpret medical orders, accurately calculate pharmacologic doses and administer medication. * Post-operative exams, evaluations, and data collection. * Assist with the transport and receipt of animals. * Review and evaluate medical records, research data for accuracy. * Mentor new Animal Care Tech 1 staff. * Perform physical examinations of animals * Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications: Required Skills: * Minimum of 2 years of relevant lab or veterinary experience plus high school diploma, GED, or Vocational School diploma * Good understanding of safety protocols for clinical environments and animal care * Good knowledge of sanitation and environmental guidelines, regulations, and study needs * Ability to safely handle and properly restrain laboratory animals * Ability to communicate animal needs to staff effectively * Strong computer skills * Ability to interpret medical orders, calculate and administer medications * Ability to understand medical orders * Routinely lift more than 50lbs Preferred: * Associate's or Bachelor's degree * Minimum 1 year of lab experience or veterinary experience Veranex is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination of any kind.
