Description

The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences (ENS) at San Diego State University is searching for a full-time (Academic Year) tenure-track faculty member in the area of Applied Kinesiology. Candidates with human subjects research expertise in athletic training, biomechanics, motor control, or rehabilitation sciences are encouraged to apply. This position will be at the Assistant Professor rank and will begin August 2025. The anticipated salary for an assistant professor position is $94,000-$97,500 academic year full-time. This amount will vary according to candidate rank, experience, and market considerations specific to the scholarly discipline. Salary represents one component of a job offer that will also include a full benefits package, moving expenses, and start-up support. Qualifications

Required: Ph.D. in Kinesiology or a related field Expertise in human subjects research Preferred: College-level teaching experience in relevant fields The ideal candidate will have the potential to establish a competitive human subjects research program in athletic training, biomechanics, motor control, or rehabilitation sciences, and develop collaborations with existing faculty in the School of ENS and faculty in other centers, schools and departments. Research experience related to diverse and underserved populations is an asset. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of advanced movement anatomy, measurement and evaluation, motor control, and biomechanics. In addition to teaching and research, the candidate will be expected to mentor graduate students and provide University service. The School of ENS is in the College of Health and Human Services, one of seven colleges at San Diego State University. The School offers B.S. degrees in Kinesiology (with emphasis areas in Pre-Physical Therapy, Fitness Specialist, and Exercise Science Generalist) and Foods and Nutrition; M.S. degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Nutritional Sciences, and concurrent M.S. degrees in Exercise Physiology and Nutritional Sciences. The School of ENS was the recipient of the Inclusive Excellence Award from the American Kinesiology Association, and is proactively addressing issues of social justice, anti-racism, and cultural diversity through curriculum modifications, equity-minded hiring and teaching practices, and inclusive pedagogy.
