Job Title: Custodial Services Assistant Supervisor Revised Date: September 9, 2024 Department: Facilities FLSA Status: Exempt Work Year: 260 Days Salary Schedule: Professional, Grade E SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising the work of employees in the Custodial Services Department. Under direct supervision of Custodial Supervisor and in partnership with Facilities Coordinator, oversee district custodial operations and all personnel functions related. Ensure compliance with cleanliness, safety, and health department standards in all district buildings. Hire, train, and evaluate staff. Job Tasks Descriptions * Participate in planning and organization, assist with management of programs, projects and activities related to district custodial operations to ensure a clean and safe environment for students and staff. * Assist in the development and implement of short- and long-term goals to manage district custodial building/site needs effectively and efficiently. * Develop, implement, and establish standardized cleaning procedures, and provide active participation in the training of district custodial personnel. * Assist in hiring, supervision, evaluation, and manage the performance of custodians and other assigned staff. Partner with Custodial Supervisor to provide human resources support for assigned personnel such as hiring, mentoring, disciplining, and training. Coordinate workloads and schedule operations with site administrators; resolve issues and conflicts. * Monitor effectiveness of training, programs and projects; support and implement sustainability measures. * Partner with Custodial Supervisor and Facilities Coordinator to monitor fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed. * Procure maintenance equipment and materials for the purpose of recommending and assisting in the selection of supplies and equipment to be stocked in the district warehouse for use by custodial staff and for general custodial purposes. * Assist Facilities Coordinator with substitute custodian scheduling. Assign and dispatch substitute custodians to provide coverage to school sites and district buildings. * Train custodians for the purpose of ensuring proper cleaning and building maintenance techniques, injury prevention and legal compliance with OSHA regulations. * Represent the Custodial Services Department with district, school and community stakeholders. Attend meetings, training and other functions as required or requested. Maintain positive public relations with the community, contractors, district personnel and vendors. Build excellent communication and customer service with all district facilities. * Collaborate with equipment services lead and head custodians to develop and execute a life cycle plan for custodial equipment. Possess ability to diagnose equipment issues, perform minor repairs and general maintenance of custodial equipment. * Participate in district crisis/emergency planning and respond to district crisis/emergency situations including weather emergencies, shelters, fires, accidents, and response team training. * Respond as essential personnel to emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as needed. * Partner with Custodial Supervisor to evaluate staff performance in accordance with District guidelines. * Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * More than five years of experience in building maintenance and supervision preferred. * Demonstrated experience in work scheduling and workforce deployment. * Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS: * Criminal background check required for hire. * Valid driver's license and evidence of insurability. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE: * Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals. * Operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other department software packages. * Operating knowledge of district facilitated web-based programs. * Knowledge of custodial maintenance, methods, materials, supplies and equipment. * Ability to operate custodial tools and equipment. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECTION/GUIDANCE: Reports to: Executive Director of Operations Custodial Supervisor Direct reports: Various direct reports including custodial office manager. # of Employees: 160 * Responsible for assisting with interviewing, hiring, training, directing work, appraising performance and resolving problems of employees. * Required to carry and respond to cellphone during assigned shift. BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITY: * Under direct supervision of Custodial Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor will have responsibility for administering, monitoring, and coordinating the Custodial Services budgets; initiating requisitions; reviewing and approving expenses; and assisting in the development of the budgets.
