Position Information New Hanover County is seeking a volunteer to serve as aVeterans Treatment Court Mentor Coordinator within the Adult Enhancement Services division of the Community Justice Services department. This volunteer position is responsible for contacting local Veteran organizations to find potential mentors for Veterans Treatment Court participants. The volunteer Mentor Coordinator will recruit and train mentors, attend Veterans Treatment Court staffing and court sessions and provide updates to the Veterans Treatment Court team. Essential Duties: * Recruit, train, and support volunteer Veteran Mentors * Assist in screening and selecting volunteer Veteran Mentor candidates * Assist in the retention of volunteer Veteran Mentors * Schedule initial and ongoing training sessions for Veteran Mentors * Coordinate linkage of mentors with Veterans Treatment Court participants in partnership with the Veterans Treatment Court team * Maintain a log of Veteran Mentors The Community Justice Services department provides an array of prevention and intervention programs and services targeted at preventing and reducing crime risk for the at-risk, diverted and offender populations through our Youth Empowerment Services and Adult Enhancement Services Divisions.
