The organization's programs encompass a wide range of services, including public charter schools, restorative justice programs in jails and prisons, shelters, permanent supportive housing, and the development of new housing and support programs. Qualifications JOB SUMMARY The Job Developer position reports to the Assistant Director of Workforce Services and is accountable for cultivating, growing, and actively maintaining lasting partnerships with employers in Alameda County and other nearby counties, including San Francisco. They will conduct outreach to area businesses, participate in local business and community networks, and develop a list of services to support the hiring process with Bay Area businesses, especially those in Alameda County. The Job Developer will provide assistance to clients with job readiness and placement services. We are looking for someone who insists on maintaining a positive attitude and enjoys supporting a diverse group of people. The right person is adept at building partnerships and has a thorough understanding of workforce development principles. Additionally, you are ready to support the Five Keys' mission by creating a supportive environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking through an equity lens. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Works directly with probationers, the Alameda Probation Department, and local service providers to develop an employment opportunity plan * Develop relationships with employers to secure interviews and placements for participants * Routinely follow up with participants to provide ongoing services related to retention and promotion * Cultivate and establish mutually beneficial relationships with Alameda County and other Bay Area employers to secure ongoing employment opportunities for program participants * Research and connect with industries that are friendly to workers with barriers, offer living wage jobs, and opportunities for advancement * Facilitate the development of Transitional Employment Programs and Formal Agreements with employers, including obtaining formal agreements from employers and managing reimbursements and incentive payments in coordination with a designated organization finance associate * In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Workforce Programs, lead outreach and engagement planning and activities * Initiate and maintain contact with a variety of business and industry representatives, including those involved in the East Bay Economic Development Alliance, and job placement and training agencies to promote employment of programs for participants * Create, support, and/or maintain an Employer Database (Apricot), which identifies key employer contacts, industries, or sectors and job seeker placements with identified employers, as well as a list of open job opportunities * Collaborate with the Workforce Development Board and other job placement providers to leverage funding, tax incentives, training, and other resources * Generate job leads that match the qualifications of Five Keys participants, including warm leads through online job boards and other relevant sources * Actively help identify and manage job announcements for various Five Keys job boards and provide weekly updates * Attend job fairs to network with employers, and collaborate with the Workforce Development Board, Chambers of Commerce, and East Bay Economic Development Alliance to locate potential Transitional Employers partners * Partner with Career Navigators to actively engage participants in their job placements * Serve as the liaison between Five Keys and the business community; providing workshops, training, and other support for businesses * Collect data from employers related to job retention, including job requirements and skills; and match job skills with applicant qualifications * Reach out to supportive employment agencies, including the Department of Rehabilitation, Ed Roberts Campus, and The ARC of the East Bay to identify employment pathways for people with disabilities * Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS * General understanding of workforce development services and programs within Alameda County * Advanced proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and databases * Able to maintain strict confidentiality and take all precautions when handling sensitive information * Ability to effectively and efficiently work from home and independently, with high levels of self-accountability when applicable. * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate meetings with diverse stakeholders EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's Degree (MA degree highly preferred) in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related field * A minimum of two years experience in Workforce Development is required * Career Development Facilitation (CDF) certification preferred * Previous re-entry experience preferred * Background in providing case management, life coaching, or support to adults and young adult clients who have barriers to education and employment, including involvement with the criminal justice system * General understanding of workforce development, career counseling * An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * To promote the health and safety of its employees, those we serve, and our local communities, Five Keys requires that all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and/or adhere to all weekly testing and safety measures. Employees may also request and receive approval for an exemption from this policy. Exemptions are granted to accommodate a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief * Must wear provided PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements, when needed * Frequent talking and hearing conversations * Long periods of walking, sitting at a desk and/or computer station * Lifting items that weigh up to 25 lbs.; reaching, bending, carrying and stooping within the daily routine of tasks and activities ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS This position is contingent upon: * Satisfactory results of a Live Scan (criminal background investigation) * Successfully obtaining jail clearance for positions working in county jails or probation locations * Submitting proof of clear TB results. Results dated within 60 days prior to hire date are acceptable WORK ENVIRONMENT * Moderate to high noise level * Work environment varies from site to site * Some personal safety risk working in underserved communities * Must be willing and able to travel throughout the area to community sites, and travel county-wide to various locations or meetings as needed * Up to 30% travel to Five Keys locations throughout Northern California as needed GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES At Five Keys, we understand that when our employees grow, the agency has a greater capacity to thrive and accomplish its mission.
