It will be 90% at Horace Mann-Roosevelt Elemenary and 10% at Longfellow Elementary. Position Purpose: To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members. Responsibilities: * Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, students and families. * Teaches District approved curriculum. * Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. * Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. * Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students. * Establishes and maintains standards of classroom behavior. * Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students. * Diagnoses the learning styles, cultural preferences, and strengths and challenges of all students. * Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports. * Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day. * Serves as case manager, including writing ILPs, facilitating ACCESS testing, and advising regular ed staff. * Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district. * Ensures a safe, pleasant, and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary, and enforces school policy Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education ND Teaching License or ability to obtain prior to start date Valid Teaching Certificate with Bilingual/ESL Endorsement or Plan on File to acquire ESL within 2 years of hire.
