Department: MED-Psych & Behavioral Science Salary/Grade: NEX/11 Job Summary: We are looking for a street savvy, personable, and organized project staff member to locate and set up interviews with participants for the Northwestern Juvenile Project. The Northwestern Juvenile Project is a 30-year longitudinal study of the needs and outcomes of youth in juvenile detention as they age. Participants are now median age 43. This position will travel to last-known addresses throughout the Chicagoland area and within a two-hour driving radius to locate hard-to-find participants. They will also use various "in-office" resources, including online and record-based sources, social media, letter writing and phone calls to locate participants. They will invite participants for interviews, schedule their interviews, maintain the research study operations database, and coordinate activities with field interviewers. This position attends weekly team meetings and individual supervisory meetings. This position requires a reliable vehicle and auto insurance (mileage is reimbursed). This position ensures that all activities are completed following all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). This is a hybrid position. Working hours include: two weekday shifts (at least one in-office); two early evening shifts (e.g., 11 am -7 pm); and one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) per week. Our office is located on Northwestern's Chicago campus. Full time preferred, but a part-time option is possible. Please include a cover letter to be considered for this position. We are an experienced operation and provide careful training and a supportive and dynamic work environment. Please note: Supervisor provides objectives, deadlines and specific instructions only for new, difficult, and/or unusual work. Work is reviewed upon completion and only occasionally to verify technical accuracy and compliance with practice, policy, and procedures. EE informs supervisor of on-going progress and/or potentially controversial matters. Specific Responsibilities: Technical * Participates in the planning & conduct of research study including participant recruitment and retention. * Collects, compiles, tabulates & processes responses. * Gathers information. Administration * Collects, records, reviews & summarizes research data. * Prepares reports for investigators and sponsors on recruitment status and other pertinent study data. * Completes documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols. Finance * May process payments for research participants per study protocol Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: * Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR * Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience. * Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years. Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.) * Familiar with Chicago neighborhoods and able to navigate them safely. * Strong telephone skills. * Strong organizational skills. * Well-developed interpersonal skills (be able to develop quick rapport). * Ability to work independently and efficiently Preferred Qualifications: * Field work experience * Experience working with at-risk adults Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities) * Proficient with Microsoft Office, including data entry Target hiring range for this position will be between $19.89 to $27.97 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
