Job Description: POSITION: Full-Time Assistant Coordinator of Student Life: Special Programs Coordinator; Student Affairs; Lawrence Campus (45 Franklin Street); MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; 37.5 hours/week, Monday, Thursday, Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm, Tuesday & Wednesday 11:00am - 7:00pm; Pay Grade 4 SUMMARY: Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Assistant Coordinator of Student Life, in conjunction with the Student Life staff is responsible for oversight of all entities for our student clubs, organizations, and interest groups and leadership development activities. Additionally, the Assistant Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with Student Life activities and events including event implementation on the Lawrence campus. This position will serve as a point person for our student leaders, members, and student group advisors. RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: * In conjunction with the Coordinator of Student Life, initiate and organize responsive programming for the diverse population of students at NECC. * Provide support in the development, coordination, evaluation and assessment of Student Life programming including campus wide events, such as Weeks of Welcome, Wednesday Knight Pride, Hispanic Heritage Month, Constitution Day, Community College Student Leadership Association Events, Spring Jam, Awards, etc. * Implement programs on the Lawrence campus, in conjunction with Coordinator of Student Life. * Design and implement leadership development programming, including coordination of the NECC chapter of the National Society of Leadership & Success (NSLS) program. * Oversee and advise student organizations and their faculty/staff advisors ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures for student organizations/clubs. * Counsel student club leadership on the creation of inclusive environments and leadership activities and provide ongoing training and counsel to student clubs. * Plan and implement student club, organization, interest group and advisor trainings including All Club Engagement (ACE). * Assist with advising the Student Government Association. * Plan and coordinate the annual student leadership conference. * Identify local, state, and national conferences for student leaders to attend, make travel arrangements, escort students and serve as an advisor and college representative. * Assist with general questions and inquiries for Student Development departments on the Lawrence campus. * Collaborate with college partners around development of inclusive programs and co-curricular support at the college providing advocacy and advisement. * Assist with the creation and implementation of social media posts and event marketing. * Support efforts to coordinate and advertise a calendar of events. * Assists in the development of new and creative strategies to increase student involvement on campus and virtually. * Performs other duties as assigned. * The Classification Specification is available at: https://www.mass.edu/shared/classificationspecs/specsmccc/Special Programs Coordinator - HB 1112.doc Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other field related to area of assignment; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include college registration, academic advisement, career development, career experience, training, curriculum development, audio/visual or graphic production, grant administration, budget development, program/project management, event planning, administrative work in an academic environment, or personal computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. * Must be energetic, team oriented and have enthusiasm for student activities and working with students. * Must have the ability to relate to and work collaboratively with students, faculty and staff and be creative and innovative in delivery of services. * Ability to train and assist students in their development; understanding of group dynamics and ability to work effectively with groups. * Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated proficiency with current technology such as: WordPress, Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Access), Prezi, and various forms of social media. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Master's degree in Student Affairs or a related field. * Experience working at a community college. * Bilingual (Spanish/English) * Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment. Additional Information: GRADE AND SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $58,394.00 - $63,697.00 (MCCC Pay Grade 4 with a Bachelor's degree) annually with complete fringe benefit package. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
