General Information: James Madison University is seeking an Assistant Director in the Community Engagement & Volunteer Center (CEVC). This position provides leadership, support, and training to develop community partnerships in order to connect students and faculty  with meaningful, community-based experiences to co-create just and sustainable communities. Student Affairs Values * Focusing on Students * Leading Courageously * Transcending Boundaries * Creating Belonging * Embracing Innovation and Change * Honoring and Valuing Our Staff * Prioritizing Health and Well-Being Duties and Responsibilities: Function and Direction: Provides leadership and support for CEVC's community partnerships for effective relationships development, mutually beneficial partnerships, and creative use of shared resources. Acquires, maintains, and contributes to the body of knowledge and expertise that leads to the ongoing improvement of CEVC programs and partnerships. Anticipates, identifies, and responds to issues to the function and future development of community partnerships, including budget and resource management. Community Partnership Development and Coordination: Maintains and develops partnerships with community organizations (nonprofit community organizations, schools, and government agencies) through effective communication, trust-building, shared goals, and shared resources. Ensures community perspective is represented in decision-making at CEVC and across campus. Co-creates and facilitates community-oriented workshops and networking opportunities. Develops and maintains community engagement related policies and procedures. Connection and Representation: Serves as the primary contact for representatives of nonprofit, government, and educational organizations. Develops and maintains opportunities on CEVC's volunteer management software and additional online resources to support more effective partnerships and connect students with community-driven efforts. Facilitates sustainable connections between community partners and faculty members. Represents CEVC in key community coalitions and networks. Liaison with Community Engagement Faculty Liaison(s) for effective coordination and alignment of work. Provides information and professional judgment related to community needs, interests, goals, and concerns. Staffing, Training and Development: Assists with the recruitment, selection, orientation, development, and assimilation of AmeriCorps VISTA and student staff. Oversee AmeriCorps VISTA program. Supervises a team of student coordinators. Assists with delivery of CEVC student coordinator training. Coordinates with other CEVC programs to ensure the availability of services, avoid duplication, and maximize opportunity and impact. Supervises a team of student coordinators to support faculty with Community Engaged Learning and implement weekly service opportunities. Evaluation: Gathers feedback from community partners to evaluate effectiveness of partnerships and community impact. Prepares and maintains reports, data, and presentations related to the community partnership and student participation. Qualifications: Required: * Bachelor's degree * Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with building campus-community partnerships * Adept at fostering collaborative environments between students, faculty, staff, and community partners * Strong planning, problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills * Demonstrated commitment to creating just and sustainable communities Additional Posting Information: JMU's Dual Career and Community Resources Program is available for candidates that will be relocating to the area.
