Position Summary This position is responsible for producing consultant and in-house major complex corridor studies utilizing sound planning and engineering practices. These studies develop environmentally acceptable transportation alternatives that address the concerns of the general public and elected officials. Products of these studies include location study reports and final environmental impact statements that result in enumeration of transportation projects in the state budget. Extensive cooperation with local units of government and other state agencies is required in these duties. As a coordinator and manager of consultant projects, this position negotiates contracts, reviews consultant documents and plans, assists consultants with questions regarding the corridor studies, and coordinates between consultants and other DOT sections. This position is responsible for ensuring that projects stay within budget and are completed on schedule. This position must also ensure contracts are within limits of applicable laws and policies. The position will have extensive authority to deal with the private sector, local officials and Federal Highway Administration officials in regard to highly sensitive and complex issues and concerns. In addition to conducting corridor studies, this position is responsible for implementing corridor preservation studies. This position will serve as project manager in the development of 84.295 Corridor Preservation Plans and 84.25 Access Control Plans. A broad combination of engineering knowledge, access control strategies and transportation planning is required to develop these plans. Salary Information This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $90,064 - $108,950, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. Job Details WisDOT does not sponsor work visas.
