To be eligible for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in a university or college program and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place. The Real-Time Software Development team is hiring for Software Engineer intern: The Real-Time Team designs, develops, and supports the Exchange trading system. We care deeply about system reliability, testability, recoverability, fault tolerance, throughput, and latency. We measure times in nanoseconds. Our engineers have a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering. We are looking for like-minded individuals to join us. Your responsibilities and learning objectives will be: Working alongside our software development team to contribute to projects integral to our business. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced developers and fellow interns, providing hands-on experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex systems. You will gain practical experience writing production-quality code as you work on a high-throughput, low-latency trading system in an Agile development environment. The ideal candidate has: * Pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place. * Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms. * Experience with C++ or experience in another language with a strong desire to learn C++. * Experience with Linux or UNIX-like operating systems. * Self-directed, self-motivated. You'll really stand out with: * Knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python preferred). * Experience with SQL. * Knowledge of network programming fundamentals.
