Title: NOL Nighthawk Leadership Project Specialist (Part-time) Agency: Northern VA Community College Location: Fairfax County - 059 FLSA: Nonexempt Hiring Range: $27/hr Full Time or Part Time: Part Time Additional Detail Job Description: General Description: The part-time NOL Nighthawk Leadership Project Specialist at NOVA Online is instrumental in cultivating student leadership and engagement opportunities within the online learning community. Directly reporting to the Director of Student Success, this role involves the development and implementation of the NOVA Online's Nighthawk Peer Mentoring Program, aimed at enriching the overall student experience and fostering a greater sense of belongingness. Duties and Tasks The Part-Time Student Leadership Project Specialist at NOVA Online will be responsible for: designing, implementing, and assessing NOVA Online's Nighthawk Peer Mentoring Program. The position duties include: * Implementation and Coordination: Overseeing the execution of the mentoring program, including participant matching, scheduling, and ongoing support for both mentors and mentees. * Student Engagement Initiatives: Creating and organizing virtual activities, workshops, and events to enhance student engagement and leadership skills within the online learning community. * Collaboration with Student Services: Collaborating with the Director of Student Success, faculty, and staff to integrate the NOVA Online Peer Mentoring Program into the broader student services framework. * Communication and Outreach: Utilizing effective communication channels to promote the program, recruit participants, and maintain regular contact with both mentors and mentees. * Assessment and Improvement: Implementing assessment tools to evaluate the impact and success of the program and using feedback to continuously enhance its effectiveness. * Cultivating a Sense of Belongingness: Focusing on initiatives that contribute to a supportive and inclusive online learning environment, fostering a sense of belongingness among students. * Documentation and Reporting: Keeping detailed records of program activities, participant feedback, and outcomes, and providing regular reports to the Director of Student Success. Employees must reside in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia. Minimum Qualifications: KSA's: * Ability to plan, organize, and execute initiatives from conception to completion. * Awareness and commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the development and implementation of student leadership programs. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and engage with students, faculty, and staff in a virtual environment. * Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and student organizations, to integrate leadership initiatives into the broader NOVA community. * Ability to design and implement leadership programs, workshops, and events that align with the needs of online learners. * Knowledge of developing and implementing assessment tools to measure the impact and effectiveness of leadership programs, with a data-driven approach to continuous improvement. Required Qualifications: * Experience creating and organizing virtual activities, workshops, and events. * Experience with project management. * Experience using assessment tools to evaluate the impact and success of a program. * Experience keeping detailed records of program activities, participant feedback, and outcomes. Preferred Qualifications: Additional Considerations: * Experience with community colleges. * Experience in online learning. * Experience overseeing mentoring programs. * Supervisory experience.
