Overview This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. This position provides risk analytics and expert support at the highest level of operational complexity to business units. Creates methods to evaluate potential losses, and develops high-impact solutions to minimize or eliminate risk. Recommends and monitors enhancements to current processes and procedures, performing analysis and reporting in support of strategic objectives. Serves as a resource and may provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. This role is with the Credit Portfolio Analytics team, which is part of the Credit Administration and Infrastructure Organization of First Citizens Bank (FCB). The Credit Risk - Senior Risk Analyst will provide risk analytics and expert support at the highest level of operational complexity to the business (1st line of defense) and credit risk (2nd line of defense) units. The Senior Risk Analyst creates methods to evaluate credit risk and develops high-impact solutions to minimize or eliminate credit risk in FCB's loan portfolio. Recommends and monitors enhancements to current processes and procedures, performing quantitative analysis and reporting in support of strategic objectives. This role serves as a resource and may provide a leadership role to workstreams and projects through knowledge in the area of specialization. The role is focused on leading development of credit metrics, predictive analytics, and models and recommending business insights to mitigate risk in the loan portfolio and ensure that loan portfolio risk profile is within the FCB's credit risk appetite. A successful individual in this position will quickly build a strong understanding of credit and risk management at FCB and master project management and process improvement skills to support the evolving credit risk management function at FCB. The role will be pivotal in creating methods, building credit risk processes and solutions for the future and will be very visible, with exposure to various stakeholders, including the Chief Credit Officer, senior management, and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities Identifying Risk - Leads the design and implementation of process evaluation methods, and the development of expert solutions to address identified risks. Works closely with management to ensure credit risk strategies are effective and compliant. May involve creation, evaluation, and execution of models or simulation scenarios to test risk conditions. Data Analysis - Sources, compiles, and interprets data. Performs complex analysis for risk trends and data discrepancies, and may direct the analytics efforts of the work group. Reporting - Produces reports based on data analysis, company trends, and risk factors. Conveys patterns, problems, and areas of improvement. Enables insight into credit risks and mitigation of identified risks through reporting activities. Coordinates analytical content delivery with the Credit Reporting and Analytics team. Operational Support - Supports business processes through a variety of escalated operational tasks. Develops, implements, and ensures continuous improvement of procedures. Acts as a resource to management and other associates, including production of documentation, presentations, or other materials to educate on risk policies and procedures Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Risk management, or financial analysis, or statistical modeling OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Risk management, or financial analysis, or statistical modeling Preferred Qualifications: 5 years' experience with quantitative credit risk modeling and/or portfolio analytics in a financial institution. Thorough understanding of econometric and financial modeling techniques. Proficiency with statistical and data analysis and programming tools such as R, SAS, Stata, SQL and Matlab Knowledge of relevant third party vendor credit risk models and products is a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills. If hired in CA or NY the base pay for this position is generally between $128,427 and $ $173,755. If hired in AZ, the base pay for this position is generally between $$117,764 and $159,327. If hired in NC, the base pay for this position is generally between $107,023 and $144,795. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
