What We Need: We are seeking a good news writer, focused and driven to seek out stories. Able to anchor radio newscasts with a good voice, clear speech, and conversational reading style. What You'll Do: * Anchor Newscasts for multiple markets * Maintain crucial deadlines in order to provide news stories in a timely fashion. * Write clear and concise news copy Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire. * Gather audio from press conferences, live events, and partner TV stations. * Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire. * Monitor sources for breaking news, e.g., wires and social media. * Must have general knowledge of all current events including but not limited to political, entertainment, sports, finance or military. * Finalize content using digital audio editing software. * Produce short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the following shift. * Repackage content from producers and field reporters for newscasts. * May be called on to anchor breaking news reports as needed. * May produce features and interviews as assigned. * Other duties as assigned What You'll Need: Skills and Qualifications * Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms * Clear, pleasant, and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation * Personable, charismatic reading style and delivery * Ability to accept coaching and adapt to energetic and contemporary news style and delivery * Well-rounded communication skills for conducting interviews * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment * Excellent contemporary writing, wordsmithing, and editing skills; proficient in grammar * Strong attention to detail * Proficient in media production and broadcast systems * Ability to plan and organize, set priorities, use critical thinking skills for story selection, and able to multi task in a fast-paced environment * Proficiency in Spanish a bonus Work Experience: 1+ years' experience in on-air journalism preferred Education: 4-year college degree preferred in Broadcast Journalism or Communications; current student will be considered.
