Requisition No: 837548 Agency: Department of Lottery Working Title: OPS - COMPUTER SYSTEMS OPERATOR - 36999938 Pay Plan: Temp Position Number: 36999938 Salary: $17.00 per hour Posting Closing Date: 11/08/2024 Total Compensation Estimator Tool COMPUTER SYSTEMS OPERATOR FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF THE LOTTERY - DIVISION OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS OPERATIONS OPS (Part-Time): $17.00/hr, 24 hours per week There are multiple OPS positions available. SHIFT HOURS FOR EACH POSITION ARE LISTED BELOW: Position 1 (24 hrs/wk): Saturday (12-9PM, 8 Hrs.), Monday (7AM-1PM, 6 Hrs.), and Tuesday and Wednesday (7AM-12PM, 5 Hrs.) Position 2 (24 hrs/wk): Sunday (12-9PM, 8 Hrs.), Monday (8AM-2PM, 6 Hrs.), and Tuesday and Wednesday (9AM-2PM, 5 Hrs.) Position 3 (24 hrs/wk): Saturday 11PM to 8AM (8 hours), and Sunday & Monday 11PM to 8AM (8 hours) Position 4 (24 hrs/wk): Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7AM-2PM (6 hours) Please note this is a running advertisement. All four positions (and corresponding shifts) will be filled as needed. GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION This position is part of a team focused on operating and monitoring multiple central and backup site servers, various job schedulers, peripheral equipment, and other computer environments. WORK PERFORMED (Note: The omission of specific statements does not prevent management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.) * Operates all components of the Lottery's computer systems. This includes timely completion of monitored jobs and processing daily draws for games that occur during specific shift time frames. * Handles emergency situations (computer hardware failures, software problems, inclement weather, etc.) through approved emergency guidelines. * Follows approved agency procedures to balance reports generated by the daily draws, the ICS Systems, and the Vendor's reports. * Monitors environment and electrical power to maintain narrow margin of operating conditions necessary to keep computer systems functioning. * Maintains operating records on production and performance reports. Documents daily actions in online operator log (OPERLOG) for review daily by Operations personnel, * Check production jobs frequently and make necessary corrections to complete assigned work on schedule. * Operate computer systems components and its peripheral equipment. * Monitor environment and power supplies for proper operating conditions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Knowledge of PC experience in a Microsoft Windows environment. * A good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams. * Knowledge of computing systems operations terminology. * Knowledge of basic IT terminology and procedures * Knowledge of IT operations, equipment, procedures, and workflow. * Skills in the operation of a variety of data processing equipment. * Skills in the operation of computer peripheral equipment. * Good time management skills * Skill in operating a variety of data processing equipment. * Ability to learn quickly. * Ability to work independently and with a team. * Ability to determine priorities. * Ability to interpret and respond to computer error messages. * Ability to detect equipment malfunctions and contact proper support staff. * Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, peers, supervisors, technical staff, and users. * Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively, verbally and in writing. * Ability to complete work assignments on time and work with other technical staff. * Ability to follow operational and maintenance procedures, understand the reasoning behind these procedures, and explain their benefits to others. * Ability to make timely and accurate decisions during normal operating conditions and critical situations. * Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. * Ability to communicate technical IT information effectively. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Successful passing of a criminal background check (state, local, and national) is required. * Maintains strict confidentiality of information learned while working with the Florida Lottery, whether learned through assigned duties or through working with other units. The types of confidential information may include, but are not limited to, payroll information, budget matters, policy decisions, tax matters, employee disciplinary issues, and other personnel data. * Education & experience requirement: * A high school diploma, or its equivalent, and two (2) years of experience in the operation of a personal computer and computer peripheral equipment, or * A high school diploma, or its equivalent, and one (1) year of experience in the operation of a personal computer and computer peripheral equipment, and the completion of a program of study from a vocational/technical school or data processing vendor in an area of data processing (excluding data entry). *
  • Experience: College course work may be substituted for one year of the required work experience provided the course work included at least four (4) courses in an area of data processing other than data entry. * Special Note: Applicants may be required to submit proof of educational attainment to confirm eligibility for employment consideration or appointment to positions in this class.
