This is achieved by analyzing and processing property and casualty insurance claims, coordinating safety, providing citizen service and interaction, assisting with City events, coordinating contractor insurance, administering safety programs, administering Worker's Compensation, and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees. The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. * Subrogates of property and casualty claims by tracking claims and payments, drafting and submittingappropriate documentation, monitoring claim paymentstatus, depositingmonies received and obtaining judgments for at-fault parties. * Responsible for asset management by performing annual physical audits, maintaining schedules, and ensuring proper limits of coverage. * Reviews, researches, and administers the Department of Transportation (DOT) Commercial Driver's License program by conducting random drug screens, monitoring results, tracking status of CDL holders, tracking DOT waivers, maintaining reasonable suspicion documentation and ensuring compliance with Federal and State guidelines. * Administers and assists with the workers' compensation program by assisting with accident investigation, determining cause of injury, coordinating Return to Work program, completing state and local documentation and forms, and coordinating cases with adjustors, case managers, medical professionals, and insurance carriers. * Assists with general property and casualty insurance claims submission by documenting witness statements, claims investigation, completing required documentation, tracking claims status, and communicating with various departments, claimants, and insurance carriers. * Provides citizen service and interaction by answering citizen questions and concerns, guiding citizens in claim filing process, monitoring claim status to completion, and following up on claims for corrections and to provide assistance. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or related field and five (5) years insurance, claims, underwriting, or loss prevention experience, or equivalent. Knowledge of: * City rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. * Principles and practices of risk management activities such as risk identification and reduction, loss control, asset protection, employee safety, workers compensation, etc. * State and Federal laws regarding insurance policies, property and liability claims, and workers compensation. * Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including financial application software. Skill in: * Establishing and maintaining working relationships with elected officials, professional and support staff, vendors, the public, and City employees. * Understanding and interpreting complex laws, rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines. * Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands. * Providing outstanding customer service and conflict resolution. * Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software. * Creating, preparing, writing, and proofingreports, documents, andcorrespondence. * Working effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities. * Effectively communicating in both oral and written format. Special Requirements: * Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license.  * Texas Adjustors Property and Casualty License or the ability to obtain one within twelve (12) months of hire. * Texas General Lines Property and Casualty License preferred. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: General Supervision:  Work is normally reviewed upon completion, with occasional spot checks while in process, to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and conformance to established standards; autonomy is granted at the service or program level; work is subject to general and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
