General Description of the Position The Pre-Nursing Program Director is a full-time, 12-month faculty position. The Program Director will have a broad range of administrative responsibilities for the pre nursing program and receive a reduction in course workload. The Director will assist with faculty recruitment, development and supervision, new student orientation, program revisions, curriculum updates, program evaluation, budget planning, student advising, and annual and other reports as requested. The Pre-Nursing Coordinator reports directly to the Chairperson of the Department of Nursing. Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The following are the functions essential to performing this job: * Ensure Pre-Nursing assigned faculty follow the Course Syllabus and are reflective of current Best Practice * Review all Pre-Nursing course Syllabus to ensure faculty are- in compliance with the designated format * Ensure faculty are following institutional guidelines and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards and the Delaware Board of Nursing, * Advertise and recruit students on a continual basis (which may include travel). * Coordinate the student selection process for admission to the Professional Nursing Program. * Ensure pre-nursing students receive consistent, on-going monitoring, mentoring, and intervention efforts to enhance the overall quality of the program. * Support success in the TEAS entrance exam and required courses. * Guide and mentor students as they transition from high school to college and as they evolve throughout the program to ensure student success. * Guide and mentor students as they transition from the role of license practical nurse to a Baccalaureate prepared registered nurse. * Give input into the marketing of the Nursing Program * Assist with recruitment and selection of adjuncts (Content Specific Experts) * Evaluate/Assess adjunct usage/participation in courses. * Provide evaluative and assessment information on program, faculty, and staff to the department Chair as per university guidelines and collective bargaining agreement * Mentor and orient new faculty and adjuncts. * Be available after-hours to support students and faculty and troubleshoot problems if needed. * Select, manage, and supervise the program support staff such as administrative assistants and coordinators. * Provide supervision to faculty and adjunct faculty. * Participate on University/ Department [Professional committees. * Community outreach and engagement. * Collect and analyze data to make program changes and assess the program's ability to meet the Student Learning Outcomes and Role Specific Graduate Competencies. * Teach 12 credit hours spread throughout the 12-month period. Teaching may be in the Undergraduate and Graduate programs. * Handle student issues and complaints as they arise. * Other related activities as needed and required by the Chairperson. Qualification Standards * Master's degree with graduate preparation in nursing at either the master's or undergraduate level. * Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Clinical Nursing, Nursing Administration or Nursing Education * A strong knowledge of program and curriculum development. * The candidate must be current with new teaching technologies and able to think creatively, with innovation in mind, to meet the current needs of the profession. * A strong knowledge of nursing practice and accreditation prescribed by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Delaware Board of Nursing. * Proven track record in teaching and working with a diverse student population. * Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with departmental and university faculty and staff. * Eligible for unencumbered RN license in the State of Delaware.
