Description Summary The Teacher Assistant is responsible for assistant in implementing all components of the children's services curriculum within his/her designated classroom in a manner which is reflective of KCARC's mission to advocate and provide opportunities in dignified and respectful manner for the total well-being of individuals and families with special needs. Requirements Qualifications: * Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department. * Maintain good hygiene. * Possess excellent research and writing skills. * Possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. * Possess the ability to use tact and empathy when dealing with people of varied backgrounds. * Possess the ability to establish effective working relationships. * Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment. * Be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products (Computer literate). * Accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership. * Be able to multitask effectively in a sometimes fast paced environment. Education and/or Experience: * High School diploma or GED equivalent required. * Must possess a CDA or must begin working toward a CDA after first year of employment, or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Tuition assistance is available. * Background experience in developmentally appropriate practices in an Early Childhood setting. * Must demonstrate insight, sensitivity, flexibility, and a strong desire to work with children. Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: * CPR/First Aid * Ability to pass state required physical Physical Demands: The position requires staff to alternate from a sitting position to a standing position frequently. Repetitive motion required. Lifting, bending, twisting, and turning are required. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
