San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly Adjunct and Coach position for San Bernardino Valley College on a continuous basis.
This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants positions as Adjunct - Professor, Kinesiology and Head Softball Coach.
Example of Duties as Adjunct, Kinesiology :
* Teach assigned classes in Kinesiology
Example of Duties- Head Softball Coach:
* Perform additional working hours, which may include the breaks (spring, summer and winter), weekends, and evenings.
* Take and pass the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) exam.
* Help organize and execute an aggressive scouting and recruiting program of local and regional high school student athletes and out-of-state student athletes; actively participate and support high school visitations; establish individual contacts with athletes and parent/ guardians; follow-up correspondence/emails; lead campus tours for prospective student athletes.
* Scout opponent teams.
* Assist current and prospective student athletes to the appropriate resource to ensure their success (i.e. admissions office, financial aid office, tutoring centers, athletic counselor).
* Monitor student-athletes get grade checks completed by professors and turned in to the coaches in a timely manner.
* Maintain accurate records of any required physical exam documentation and injury records for the student-athletes.
* Assist the Athletic Trainer in the monitoring player injuries and rehabilitation.
* Help resolve student-athlete issues including providing encouragement and support for student athletes
* Assist with sports clinics, camps, tournaments, races and/or charity games.
* Coach practices and both traditional and non-traditional games.
* Attend and participate in some local coaches' meetings, staff and conference meetings, state coaches' meetings, and coaching clinics; maintain membership and participate in meetings at the local and state coaches' associations.
* Provide the Sports Information Specialist the statistics for all tournaments and other off-site contests as needed.
* Give input on the performance of each referee after each game for the referee evaluation as needed.
* Provide the necessary documentation for the reimbursement of out- of- pocket expenses.
* Make recommendations for the order of uniforms and equipment each year.
* Responsible for ensuring all coaching activities and processes remain in full compliance with current 3C2A regulations and standards.
Education: Master's in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education
OR
Bachelor's in any of the above
AND
Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy
OR the equivalent. *Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements outlined in the posting may submit an Equivalency Request. Experience:
* Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.
Desired Qualifications:
* Experience teaching Kinesiology courses at the college level.
* Proof of American Red Cross, lifeguard certification or similarly recognized organization.
* Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to compliance with NCAA, CCCAA, state and other applicable regulations; Demonstrated ability to improve athletes' skills using proven coaching strategies and techniques; Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, evaluate and adapt in a dynamic educational environment; Experience teaching Kinesiology activity courses at the collegiate level.
* Strong commitment to professional development, maintaining positive relationships within the community and remaining current in the field; Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleague, management, classified staff and others outside the college and; excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
2. A resume summarizing your educational and professional experience.
3. A cover letter explaining how your experience and background demonstrates that you meet the minimum requirements for the position stated in the posting.
4. Teaching Philosophy of your beliefs about teaching and learning. The statement or description should include examples of how you put your beliefs into practice by including concrete examples of what you do or anticipate doing in the classroom.
5. Unofficial transcripts that show you meet the minimum educational requirement(s) for the position. Only transcripts showing the awarded minimum required degree or higher degree will be accepted. Transcripts must be legible. Transcripts must be from a US accredited institution. Transcripts from outside the US must include an official evaluation for equivalency. Copies of diplomas will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts if the position requires a degree. Official Transcripts will be required upon hire. If possible, please highlight the area indicating the degree name/major and date the degree was awarded or conferred.

The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:
* Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate.
* Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution (for positions with higher education requirement)
* Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment
* Other pre-employment requirements may be required depending on the position (i.e. certifications or licenses; see job posting qualifications section for details).
Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements is mandatory to be eligible for employment. These requirements are in accordance with the San Bernardino Community College District's Administrative Procedures and Board Policies.
