Position Number 72004052 Hiring Rate: $35,000.00 This is not a remote position. About the Commission: The Florida Commission on Human Relations is the state agency charged with enforcing the state's civil rights laws and serves as a resource on human relations for the people of Florida. It is against Florida law to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status or familial status. The Commission investigates complaints of discrimination in the areas of areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, and state employee whistle-blower retaliation. The Commission is responsible for promoting fair treatment, equal opportunity, and mutual respect among members of all economic, social, racial, religious, and ethnic groups and works to eliminate discrimination against groups and their members. What will I be doing? Conducts interviews to establish jurisdiction for the Employment Intake Unit. Enters information relevant to such activities into ActionStep (EEOC Enforcement Management System) as well as Agency Records Center (ARC). Frames and perfects advances and complex complaints of employment after jurisdiction requirements have been met. Transfers cases and all relevant documents to the investigators for investigation after jurisdiction is established. Maintains all spreadsheets and information relevant to employment. Counsels and provides information to the public about alleged discrimination in the area of employment. Advises potential complainants and their representatives about the law and the Agency's jurisdiction, procedures, and rules. Perfects and amends complaints to conform to statute and rule. Receives and inputs case docketing information into ActionStep and ARC, generates and mails case notification documents to parties and transfers cases to the appropriate Investigation Manager. Receives and inputs case referral information into the ARC, generates referral notices into ActionStep and uploads referral notification documents to the appropriate Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Office. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: * Knowledge of general office procedures and practices, correct grammar usage, and basic arithmetic. * Ability to prepare reports and correspondence. * Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities. * Ability to develop and implement office procedures. * Ability to follow instructions. * Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness. * Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others. Preferences Preference will be given to those individuals who have experience in Fair Housing or Employment Investigations. Can I be successful? Approach work with a sense of commitment, urgency, and personal accountability. * Be able to effectively organize and manage a busy workload while remaining flexible and able to effectively incorporate changing priorities or conditions. All positions with the Florida Commission on Human Relations are positions of special trust. Therefore, the selected candidate must successfully pass a level two background screening (which includes fingerprinting) as a condition of employment.
