DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON, SECONDARY MATH JobID: 27314 Position Type: Athletics/ Extracurricular/Non-Athletics Date Posted: 6/7/2024 Location: District Wide Date Available: 07/01/2024 Closing Date: 06/14/2024 District:   Christina School District  Additional Information: Show/Hide POSITION: DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON, SECONDARY ELA LOCATION: District-Wide position for the 2024-2025 school year (May be filled as a Chair or Co-Chair) QUALIFICATIONS: * Strong and positive collaboration and communication skills * Leader in the areas of curriculum and instruction; should be able to facilitate department/grade level collaboration * Skilled at connecting standards, current curriculum, pacing guides, scope and sequence, and instructional materials being used at the school and district * Knowledge of assessment and use of data to drive planning and instruction * Ability to collaborate with other department chairpersons and building administration * Minimum 3 years' teaching experience preferred SALARY: CEA EPER Salary Scale MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT: July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025 APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Please apply online, upload a letter of interest, and resume to your completed application no later than June 14, 2024. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Actively participate in the creation and implementation of district-wide goals, department goals, and content area goals * Assists administration in improvement of instruction through analysis of assessment data * Attend all year-round meetings as scheduled by supervisor * Participate in select building level meetings * Disseminate area/content/department information to peers through meetings, emails, texts, etc. and ensure continuous communication flow * Greet, assist, and provide support to new (or new to content area) educators & support staff * Lead department/grade level discussions regarding students and assist in the creation of opportunities to improve or accelerate student achievement * Manage the department budget; responsible for order forms, distribution of supplies and materials, and inventory supplies and materials for their department/grade level * Meet with administration to discuss district climate, school/district policies and other various content/area related issues * Monthly (or more frequently as required) communicate area/department needs and concerns to administration * Participate and lead summer planning sessions * Plan and deliver professional learning opportunities as directed by administration * Plan and/or assist in community outreach * Manage online area/department presence (website, social media, etc.) * Responsible for informing, monitoring, and/or completing the field trip planning and implementation for district-wide opportunities * Schedule, plan/publish agenda, lead or facilitate, and provide minutes for department/PLC meetings * Serve as a liaison between the district administration and the schools * Summarize and report area/department events and information at building level meetings * Support student success through the discussion of truancy, academic failure, climate, etc. for students and provide recommendations * Additional responsibilities at the discretion of supervisor and district administration The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
