We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Senior Scientist with a proven track record of scientific excellence and project leadership experience in cancer biology to join our antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) portfolio team within the Early Oncology Discovery group in Gaithersburg, MD USA. Accountabilities: As a Senior Scientist, you are an essential team member focused on bringing new ADC projects into the portfolio and advancing them through all stages of pre-clinical development. You will have a direct impact on the drug discovery process as a contributor in the lab and potentially as a project team leader. You will be expected to serve as Oncology biology lead for one or more pipeline programs, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely generation and dissemination of critical program data to enable milestone progression decisions. Responsible for the delivery of key pre-clinical data that support a strong biological rationale for program progression. Working in the laboratory to develop, design, conduct, troubleshoot, and analyze in vitro experiments to assess the function of our ADCs and dissect the mechanism of action of these novel cancer therapeutics. Essential Skills/Experience: * Ph.D. in Chemical/Biochemical engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. * Knowledge of antibody and/or general protein sequence and structural analysis * Experience with formulation development, biophysical characterization and stability of proteins * Science oriented, highly motivated self-starter with aim to succeed * Good communication skills, strong social skills, leadership qualities, and ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary fast paced environment Desirable Skills/Experience: * Prior experience in the biopharmaceutical industry * Hands on experience with pre-clinical in vivo models of cancer * Experience in pre-clinical models of hematological cancer, and hematological cancer cell biology About AstraZeneca in Gaithersburg, MD: Our Gaithersburg, Maryland facility creates life-changing medicines for people around the world.
