To support this work, Seattle Center currently employs 220 full-time employees and hundreds of intermittent workers. In 2023 Seattle Center is expanding its role to provide operations, maintenance and public safety services for Seattle's new Waterfront Park, a series of new public spaces on Seattle's downtown waterfront between Pioneer Square and the Seattle Aquarium. Seattle Center will bring its deep experience successfully managing public space to the waterfront.? As a department of the City of Seattle, Seattle Center contributes to the quality of life for Seattle residents--and the region's economy and image as its top visitor destination.    About this position: We are seeking qualified intermittent Parking Attendants. Work opportunities are directly related to Seattle Center event schedules so hours of work will vary. Intermittent shifts are available on days, evenings, holidays, and weekends.      This is an on-call position with no guaranteed minimum number of hours.  Here is more of what you will be doing: * Provide information about parking, events, and facilities.  * Sell parking and make change accurately and quickly.  * Prepare and submit bank deposit paperwork.  * Greet patrons in a friendly and welcoming manner. * Enforce facility rules and regulations.  * Prepare facility for daily operation by setting appropriate signage. * Check facility for vandalism and pick up trash. Minimum Qualifications: * Requires a minimum of one year cashiering experience, preferably in a parking facility (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class). * Must own your vehicle and provide documented proof of insurance for use on the job.  License, Certification, and Other Requirements:  * Valid Washington State Driver License * Personal vehicle, current vehicle insurance and a good driving record The most successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:  * Ability to make change quickly and accurately. * Willing and able to work irregular hours, including holidays, days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. * Proven experience serving a diverse customer base.  * Friendly, respectful, and courteous communication skills. * Honesty and integrity in all work tasks. * Be able to work 180 hours annually, 45 hours in each calendar quarter (per union contract).   Work Environment/Physical Demands: * Must be willing and able to lift and/or move loads of up to 40 pounds. * Must be able to stand, walk or bend for extended periods of time. * Willing to work outdoors for extended periods of time in all kinds of weather conditions. * Work around cars amidst exhaust fumes and in traffic. * Employees must be available during each of the days during: Bumbershoot; Folklife; Bite of Seattle; and all holidays, including New Year's Eve. Successful candidates will use own vehicle during their shift and provide documented proof of insurance.    A current Washington Driver's License and the ability to provide Seattle Center with a Full Washington State Driver's Abstract which demonstrates an excellent driving record is also required.   This is an intermittent/on-call position.  Hours are dependent on event schedules at Seattle Center.    Temporary employees begin at step 1, which is $21.96 hourly. Intermittent employees do not get salary step increases. You'll also get premium pay that increases the more hours you work.
