The position requires 3 days in the office and the ability to work from home Mondays and Fridays. Summary Will be responsible for conceptual development and execution of creative deliverables for HMC clients, using a wide breadth of skills within the Interior Design and Interior Architectural discipline. The role includes creating and communicating concepts, implementing, and developing creative solutions. Balancing creative thinking with interpersonal skills, the Senior Project Designer-INT will demonstrate an ability to justify concepts to the clients, consultants, and project team members. Ability to manage three to six employees. Position Responsibilities Business Development/Client Engagement * Always be professional and respectful in interactions with clients and consultants. * Maintain primary contact with client and have excellent follow-through with client to help get repeat work. * Write, develop, and approve project marketing collateral, including proposals, and actively participate in project pursuit interviews. * Ability to confidently present design concepts in large public forums, demonstrating clear communication, visual storytelling, and the ability to engage and persuade diverse audiences. * Skillfully market projects through client interviews and professional publications, showcasing compelling narratives and design excellence. * Actively engage in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to cultivate client relationships, generate new project leads, and establish business prospects. * Write articles for professional publications of architecture and interior design industry. * Understand, prepare, and negotiate RFPs, fees, and contracts with clients and consultants. Leadership * Manage creative projects from concept to completion, translating client objectives into innovative solutions while conceptualizing and clearly articulating design ideas for large-scale, complex projects. * Collaborate with the project design team to integrate design principles and maintain design integrity throughout all project phases. * Lead office design dialogues and charrettes to foster collaboration and innovation, enhancing and enriching the studio's design culture. * Direct overall verbal and graphic communication of large-scale complex project concepts to clients, public agencies, project teams, and be a primary point of contact for interior design client issues. * Take ownership and responsibility for actions, outcomes, and the overall success of the project team, ensuring transparency and commitment to achieving goals. * Establish productive working relationships, and deal effectively and cooperatively with clients, team members, and consultants. * Demonstrate strong listening skills and communicates clearly and professionally with all levels of staff, from senior management to junior team members. * Set goals, prioritize tasks, and strategically plan work activities to effectively manage time and maximize productivity, both individually and for project teams. * Ability to effectively delegate tasks, ensuring clear instructions and timelines are provided while maintaining accountability and support for team members. * Demonstrate unwavering integrity by consistently embodying honesty, transparency, and ethical principles in all professional interactions and decision-making processes. * Motivate and empower team members to excel, while influencing and guiding them towards achieving shared objectives with enthusiasm and clarity. * Ensure that coaching, mentoring, training and provide performance-enhancing feedback of assigned team members are provided. * Demonstrate empathy by actively listening to and valuing the perspectives, concerns, and needs of team members, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. * Demonstrate resilience by adapting to challenges, maintaining composure under pressure, and guiding the team through uncertainty with a positive and solution-oriented approach. * Display willingness to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgment; support and explain reasoning for decisions; include appropriate people in decision-making process; make timely decisions. * Monitor employee performance daily, proactively reporting achievements and areas needing improvement, and conduct meetings with personnel to discuss evaluations. * Assist and/or prepare evaluations and meet with their personnel to discuss the evaluation. * Demonstrate motivation in seeking new responsibilities and challenges. Project Management * Utilize HMC equipment and software proficiently to facilitate collaboration, delegation, and project management within the team effectively. * Ability to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing to give assignments to office support staff, consultants, and vendors. * Effectively communicate with agencies, consultants, and clients through writing meeting minutes, instruction bulletins, change orders, RFI responses, and professional correspondence. * Establish working relationships with artists and/or their representatives whose work strengthens/reflects HMCs aesthetic values/design principles. * Support senior project manager and/or PIC in supervision and delegation of work. * Proficient in managing all aspects of small-scale interior design projects, including staffing, project schedules, work plans, and budgets. * Ability to supervise three to six employees. * Effectively delegate tasks to support staff while maintaining a respectful and supportive approach. * Collaborates and coordinates with project team members, consultants, and relevant staff to achieve project goals, resolve conflicts, and address discrepancies. * Understand and manage contractual liabilities related to projects and ensure projects conform to contractual agreements with clients, meeting established budgets, goals, and clearly defined project expectations for the project team. * Resolve aged accounts receivable and other financial issues with clients, while monitoring and assisting in the collection of aged accounts payable for projects. * Assist in preparing, reviewing, and approving design deliverables across all project phases. * Review documents to ensure quality, coordination, and compliance with the requirements of deliverables. * Proficiency in writing and editing CSI MasterFormat specifications, with preferred knowledge of FFE specifications. * Review documents for code compliance in all phases and issue code interpretations * Review cost estimates and conducts value engineering analysis. * Review, approve design changes in collaboration with the project design team and client, and supervise the resolution of issues in preparation of construction documents. * Ensure adherence to HMC procedures, standards, protocols, and client-specific standards. Position Requirements * Architectural, Interior Design or Art degree from an accredited university or equivalent demonstrated proficiency * Minimum thirteen (13) years professional interior design experience with professional direct client contact experience or equivalent experience * NCIDQ, CID, or NCARB Licensure * Proficient in Revit with additional experience in Rhino preferred. * Working experience with Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAi) and Division of the State Architect (DSA) The salary range for this position is $105,682 to $158,086 The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidates qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
