Position Description What you will do at Harris County Precinct 2 We are seeking an experienced dynamic and community-oriented Advisory Board Manager to join our Community Relations team in Precinct 2. The Advisory Board Manager will play a pivotal role in engaging, and communicating with eight different leadership advisory boards representing various regions and one faith based advisory board within Precinct 2. This position requires exceptional communication skills both written and verbal, strong organizational abilities, and a passion for community engagement. Duties and Responsibilities: * Manage effective communication with advisory board members regarding regional projects and relevant Precinct 2 updates through personalized emails, showcasing strong writing skills, and maintaining continuous engagement. * Manage engagement among advisory members through community organizing, outreach, and education, while cultivating relationships with Precinct 2's community, partners, institutions, and stakeholders. * Manage and support in setting goals and overseeing advisory board projects, including managing detailed schedules to ensure progress. * Manage with all advisory boards by scheduling meetings, recording minutes, sending updates, and managing logistics for board engagements. * Collaborate with community liaisons and Precinct 2 departments to gather pertinent information for advisory board members. * Provide updates from advisory board committees to Precinct 2 leadership regarding strategies and adjustments. Requirements Education: * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university Experience: * Seven (7) years of professional experience in community organizing, community engagement, constituent services or a closely related field Comparable combination of education, training and/or experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. * Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. General Information Position Type and Typical Hours of Work: * Full-time | Monday - Friday | 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. * While standard office hours are typically worked, the candidate receiving this position will be expected to attend meetings and events on evenings and weekends. Location * 1001 Preston, Houston, TX 77002 Reporting Relationships * Reports To Position: Community Relations Director * Supervises Positions: None Work Environment and Physical Demands: * This job mainly operates in a clerical, office setting, however will require field work for asset capture/identification. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Noise level in the work environment is usually average. * This position requires sitting, standing, walking, grabbing, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, grasping, and repetitive motions in the performance of daily duties. Requires the ability to lift files of up to 50 lbs, as necessary. Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards. Able to use complex query techniques, create efficient forms and reports, and create Macros to automate these forms. Makes interactive presentations by using hyperlinks and action buttons. Basic: A person with this level of skills is able to use basic formatting, editing, printing functions, and understands the document page setup. Has the ability to enter and correct data, modify a workbook, format a worksheet, and use printing functions. Understands the different database concepts and structures and is familiar with data validation and is able to create a simple presentation in PowerPoint, run it, and print it. Entry Level: A person with this level of skills has the ability to open, create, save and modify documents in Word, send and receive email in Outlook and create spreadsheets in Excel. Format documents for printing, comfortable using the printer menu to preview documents.
