Head Coach for STUNT and Cheer Coach Department of Athletics St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Head STUNT and Cheer Coach. The Head STUNT and Cheer Coach will embrace the responsibility of developing the foundation for the NCAA Division II STUNT program and building a program respected for its commitment to the mission and core values of St. Edward's University. St. Edward's University will begin competition in the 2024-25 academic year. The head coach is responsible for all aspects of the STUNT and Cheer programs. The head coach is responsible for all aspects of the STUNT and Cheer programs, including creating and communicating the vision of a program seeking to reach unprecedented levels of success. Successfully organizing and implementing a comprehensive recruiting and retention plan, supporting student-athlete success in all areas of the student experience, and integrating the program into the campus community. Supervising practice and managing competitions, management of resources provided by the University which supports the essential components of the program and is actively involved in fundraising to enhance resources for the program. For consideration: * Baccalaureate degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Education, Fitness or related program; Master's Degree preferred. * One year of stunt, cheer, or gymnastics head coaching experience required at the professional, college or high school level; or three years of assistant coaching experience * Demonstrated experience in program development, management, and leadership. * Demonstrated record of promoting the academic success of student-athletes * Knowledge of and experience in recruiting * Evidence of working/relating effectively with student-athletes of diverse races and cultures * As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA, USA Cheer and the Lone Star Conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance. * Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, administrative, and organizational skills. * Possession of a valid unencumbered driver's license and the ability to travel both locally and nationally * Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal background check is required. Essential Responsibilities: * Provide vision and leadership in the development and administration of competitive and inclusive Division II STUNT and Spirit Programs within the rules, guidelines, and principles of the university, Lone Star Conference, and NCAA. * Prepare, schedule, and organize daily practice sessions, preparation for competition and off-season training * Oversee player development and monitor player well-being * In conjunction with Athletics administration, schedule competitions appropriate for the team and budget, with respect to the academic schedule. * Create and sustain an atmosphere that promotes the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. * Ensure the ongoing eligibility of student-athletes and monitor their academic progress. * Create and execute a comprehensive recruiting/retention program to attract and retain a diverse and talented pool of prospective student-athletes. * Ensure that the STUNT and Cheer programs meet annual squad size requirements * Responsibly expend allocated budget and ensure that the budget balances each fiscal year * Plan, organize, and execute a vibrant summer camp/clinic program to generate additional revenue to support the STUNT and spirit programs. * Participate in fundraising initiatives for the Athletic Department and the STUNT and spirit programs and ensure that program fundraising goals are being met * Evaluate program effectiveness * Execute all responsibilities as head coach in a manner that reflects an ongoing commitment to the excellence, integrity and success of the STUNT and spirit programs, of the Department of Athletics, and St. Edward's University. * Engage in community outreach and alumni engagement initiatives. * Responsible for regulatory and policy compliance as it applies to the position. * Perform other duties as assigned.
