Assistant/Associate Professor Department of Spanish and Portuguese University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure stream Assistant or Associate Professor position in Latin American literatures and cultures. The ideal candidate will show evidence of a well-defined research agenda focusing on the literary and cultural production of Afro-Hispanic or Indigenous populations of the Hispanophone Caribbean or other Latin American regions, with emphasis on the 19th to 21st centuries. Preference will be given to candidates whose research also focuses on one or more of the following areas: race and indigeneity, environment and society, or equality and social justice. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession.
