About the role As a Control Room Operator, you will execute the approved plant start-up and shutdown procedures to assure that the facility meets it's operational, environmental, and safety commitments while operating in a safe and environmentally efficient manner. Position Responsibilities: * Provide guidance to Crane, Auxiliary, and Back Plant Operators to maintain a safe and efficient operation * Effectively monitor Covanta operations systems and have strong working knowledge of boiler, turbine, and auxiliary equipment operations * Experienced in reading blueprints, P&ID's, and schematic specifications * Manage critical events and prioritize tasks for completion at times during emergency, providing clear directions in operational, safety and environmental tasks * Respond to operational alarms, taking immediate corrective action * Demonstrate solid understanding of operational best practices, including the ability to problem solve and make sound decisions that supports Covanta's safety and operational goals Position Requirements & Qualifications: * High School Diploma or equivalent * Successful completion of ASME QRO Provisional Licensing exam required within the first year of holding the position * Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts. This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary will consider various factors, including experience, ability, and location.
