The purpose of the Dean of Students is to work with the Building Principal to identify students with attendance and disciplinary concerns. The Dean of Students will work closely with parents and teachers to create a positive outcome. The Dean of Students will also address referrals from teachers and staff on student conduct and discipline. * To oversee the successful implementation of the policies and procedures as stated in the Student/Parent Handbook, Administrative Guidelines, and Board Policy * Maintain active relationships with parents, families, and students * To assign appropriate consequences to students for misconduct * To monitor, evaluate, and recommend improvements in the discipline, detention system, and school suspensions * To oversee the implementation of the school attendance policy * To confer with students, teachers, guidance counselors, parents, and other administrators regarding students who are excessively absent from school * Work collaboratively with representatives from the Indiana Department of Child Services, the Franklin County Probation Department, and the Franklin County Prosecutor, as needed * Resolve student behavior concerns in a fair and timely manner and maintain records of disciplinary action taken * Complete classified evaluations * Supervision at co-curricular and extra-curricular activities as assigned by the Building Principal * Assumes responsibility when the Building Principal is out of the building * Perform all other duties as directed by the Building Principal * Must hold a valid teaching/school counseling license * Must hold, or be working toward, an administrative license A Teacher Contract - Salary based on level of education and teaching experience Contracted through the remainder of the school year Competitive teacher benefit package
