This role is specifically tied to the Vikings Partnership Sunday Night Youth Flag Football Program. Starting pay is $19/hour and comes with a free YMCA membership and 20% discount on all YMCA programs! (The actual location of the fields will vary per league). 1. Job Summary: The Sports Coordinator assists in the daily direction and management of the sports program which may include organizing, delivering and administering sports leagues, recreation programs and activities targeted toward youth and adults at assigned branch. The incumbent may give work direction to sports staff. 2. Essential Functions: * Assists in the implementation of sports programs which may include organizing, delivering and administering sports leagues, recreation programs and activities. * Ensures a high level of customer service which enhances the member, program participant and guest experience and satisfaction. * Assists in managing the day to day programing to ensure revenue, program goals, and expense targets are achieved. * Delivers sports programs directly to members and participants a portion of the time. * Provides work direction to sports staff when appropriate. * May assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training and giving work direction to staff and volunteers. 3. Relationships: This position reports to the Sports Director/Sr. Sports Director who reports to the Executive Director. The incumbent works with branch and sports program teams, and other Association staff. 4. Qualifications: Required * Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in sports programs * Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage sports recreation program activities. * Knowledge of rules in sports recreation program activities. * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. * Creative thinker with a history of applying innovation in programming. * Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build community relationships. * Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.. * Ability to manage programs to a diverse population. Preferred * Multi Lingual 6. Physical Demands: * Must be able to actively participate in youth games/activities. * Ability to travel locally to YMCA branches and other program sites. 7. Additional Notes: This job description represents the major functions of the position but is not intended to be all-inclusive.
