What You'll Do: * Plans comprehensive security & police program * Participates in development of operating & policy procedures, develops operating procedures & plans for allocation of manpower & equipment to cover all three (3) shifts as directed by the Police Chief * Supervises Police Officers in the absence of the Chief and/or as requested (e.g., conducts performance evaluations, initiates disciplinary action, counsels employees, receives & resolves grievances) * Participates in interviewing process & recommends for hire * Conducts hospital wide security surveys, prepares recommendations in areas of departmental functional analysis & long range planning * Interpret & execute law enforcement rules & regulations: enforce Ohio Revised Code (ORC), Administrative Rules (DAS) & Heartland Behavioral Healthcare (HBH) hospital policies * Conducts & directs others in criminal & administrative investigations, interviews staff, patients & others, evaluates findings & makes authoritative recommendations, arrest & prosecute criminal violators, testify in court * Responds to emergency codes. * Performs a variety of routine & non-routine administrative duties: prepares & submits reports, assists Chief in budget preparation & drafting/implementation of Campus Police policies & procedures, attends committee meetings, arrange for inspection & maintenance of police vehicles, logs shift activity & maintains department specific logs & files, attends mandated in-service * Performs other related police duties as assigned by Police Chief &/or other facility administrators. * Develop & promote public confidence & support: establish & maintain good working relationships with administrative staff, department managers, local residents, community officials, State Highway Patrol & other local law enforcement agencies & courts * Responds to inquiries & requests, participates in training/orientation of new employees What's in it for you: At the State of Ohio, we take care of the team that cares for Ohioans.
