Title: Watch Commander State Role Title: Law Enforcement Officer II Hiring Range: $48,300 Pay Band: 3 Agency: Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Location: MAIN MUSEUM Agency Website: https://vmfa.museum/ Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated SCOP Officer to join the Security Services Management team as a full-time Watch Commander. This team ensures the Museum is a safe environment for a variety of art related events and exhibitions through proper supervision and monitoring of the activities of all Security Services personnel. Watch Commanders coordinate and support the museum's public safety and property protection programs by providing leadership and supervision to SCOP Officers, Console Operators, Security Associates, and any other designated security staff. Watch Commanders are responsible for supervising and providing guidance to Security staff, performing law enforcement, security, and public safety functions, as well as participating in strategic planning. Watch Commanders keeps Security Managers & Director of Security Services advised and updated on all matters involving the safety and security of the building, campus, staff, and patrons. Minimum Qualifications * Must have been sworn in by the Circuit Court and have a valid Court Order of Appointment for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. * Experience in managing or supervising others. * Must be fully registered by the Department of Criminal Justice Services as an Armed Conservator of the Peace (armed endorsement), and current on all mandated training. * Ability to demonstrate independent judgment, prepare complete and effective reports, and communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. * Possess strong customer service skills. * Ability to speak before groups, and maintain effective working relationships with others, especially patrons and internal staff. * Capable of standing for long periods of time, and able to respond to incidents on the campus in a quick and efficient manner. * Ability to use fine and gross motor skills; hand and finger dexterity; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. * Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. * Open availability without scheduling restrictions. Additional Considerations * Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Private Security, or a combination of college and related experience. * Two years of experience in managing or supervising others.
