The Director of Administration, Optum Health Tri-State Region will help determine, articulate, and execute business vision, mission, strategies and tactics to achieve business goals. The individual will understand and have an appreciation for healthcare. The individual will also demonstrate strong initiative, compassion, resourcefulness, confidentiality and sound independent judgment in handling a wide variety of complex and specialized strategic, communication and administrative functions. The individual will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves to get projects accomplished, working in the "gray," and taking initiative to build relationships needed for success across Optum Health and UnitedHealth Group (UHG). If you are located in New York or New Jersey, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: * Partner with the Tri-State Executive Leadership Team and other OptumHealth Regional and Enterprise leadership to plan, develop and execute the business vision and achieve business goals, key strategic initiatives and deliverables, all while ensuring alignment across the organization * Responsible and accountable for developing and coordinating strategic presentations for internal and external audiences * Partner on internal and external communication plans to ensure key stakeholders are aware of the progress evolving the Tri-State Region * Build a meeting cadence and management process that ensures key initiatives are moving forward, action items are completed, and deadlines are established and met * Facilitate project management - actively monitor plans and operational outcomes, track progress, identify any risk or deviations and suggest plans to remediate; provide updates, reports and analysis as required * Understand and help to prioritize projects, business initiatives and strategic plans * Attend and support key internal meetings, act as the leadership delegate - decipher critical information, investigate issues, answer critical questions, ensure timely follow up of action items and summarize for leadership * Support meeting planning, facilitation & follow-up including developing agendas, coordinating logistics, and ensuring materials distribution prior to leadership meetings * Aggregate activity and changes in the region, show sequencing and a holistic view of the landscape and implications to support strategic decision making * Ability to manage complex situations, conflicts and issues effectively; is sensitive to how people and organization's function * Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues throughout the organization in order to exchange or convey information, foster strategic partnerships, and achieve common goals * Ability to drive change, influence individuals at all levels of the organization and to take appropriate risks; builds consensus * Serve an enterprise-wide information center to ensure consistent cascading of strategic goals and initiatives You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: * 5+ years of health industry experience * Experience in a large complex matrixed organization * Demonstrated business acumen in financial analysis; experience reporting and forecasting * Solid understanding of health benefits, health services and medical delivery operations * Expert at strategic conceptualization both at a local level and enterprise level * Solid analytical skills; has hands-on experience; ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions * Experience working effectively with executive management and building solid relationships across a variety of stakeholders * Experience successfully influencing others without direct authority to drive outcomes; Demonstrable leadership skills in a team setting where team members are not direct reports * Experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously that produce progress and positive outcomes with quality and on-time delivery * Experience creating professional presentations and developing messaging Preferred Qualifications: * Working knowledge of UnitedHealthcare and/or Optum businesses * Effective and persuasive communication skills - both written and verbal * Solid communicator; capable of effectively presenting ideas and selling concepts and tactics; excellent writer, proven ability to communicate effectively with executive-levels; ability to quickly understand needs and act on those needs; ability to conceptualize and effectuate change management and 'out-of-the box' thinking New Jersey, New York Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
