Summary The Veterans Canteen Service operates retail stores within VA Medical Centers across the United States. The VCS Central Office, located at the Jefferson Barracks VAMC campus in St. Louis, MO, is seeking an Assistant Buyer for Consumables, Home, and Health and Beauty Care products in the Retail division. Learn more about this agency Help Overview * Accepting applications * Open & closing dates 08/30/2024 to 09/06/2024 * Salary $63,692 - $63,692 per year * Pay scale & grade VC 12 * Help Location 1 vacancy in the following location: * Saint Louis, MO * Remote job No * Telework eligible Yes-as determined by the agency policy. * Travel Required Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. * Relocation expenses reimbursed No * Appointment type Permanent * Work schedule Full-time * Service Excepted * Promotion potential None * Job family (Series) * 1101 General Business And Industry * Supervisory status No * Security clearance Not Required * Drug test No * Financial disclosure No * Bargaining unit status Yes * Announcement number CBAD-12534423-24-SC * Control number 807571300 Help This job is open to * The public U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. * Veterans Help Duties Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: * Assists Retail Buyers with execution of merchandise assortments for 200+ locations. * Participates in organizing marketing initiatives inclusive of presentations, samples, image collection and timely communication. * Manages and maintains retail planograms from start to finish. * Assists with tracking orders to ensure on-time receipts for retail merchandise. * Manages and resolves department customer service requests. * Responsible for working with the Data Entry team on new items/vendor set-up and maintaining accurate item/vendor data, including pricing in Oracle Retail Systems. Help Requirements Conditions of Employment * Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. * You will be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year. * Subject to background/security investigation. * Must be vaccinated against Covid-19 for this agency. Qualifications * Minimum of 1 year of retail experience in a buying office. * Working knowledge of retail merchandising principles, concepts, and practices. * Strong interpersonal communication skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Teams, including calculations and automation for processing large amounts of data. * Must be able to multitask and work effectively to meet deadlines in a continually fast-paced environment. * Periodic business travel is required. * Benefits Help A career with the U.S. government provides employees with a comprehensive benefits package.
