The Mechanical Designer at Aqua-Chem is responsible for the mechanical design/drafting of water treatment process equipment including, but not limited to, skid frames, pipe routing, major component placement, bill of materials and component design development.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm
Location: On-site; Knoxville, TN
Pay Range: Dependent on Experience

Essential Duties:
* Complete assigned design/drafting tasks accurately and on time.
* Perform complex drafting tasks to prepare drawings of intricately designed parts and assemblies.
* Generate multiple views of equipment in 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
* Handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the engineering department.
* Make arithmetic computation using standard formulas when required for calculating dimensions, allowances and technical specifications.
* Create final drawings indicating dimensions of parts, quantities of materials to be used, load capacities, etc.
* Recognize the need for and perform simple computer design customization.
* Check the work of other designer/drafters.
* Initiate engineering change notices when required.
Education Required:
* Associate's Degree in a designer/drafting related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
* Two (2) years or more experience with design/drafting of process equipment or relevant experience
* Experience with SolidWorks in both 3D modeling and 2D drawings. Experience with FEA computations and AutoCAD Inventor a plus.
* Experience with reading and understanding Process & Instrument Diagrams
* Work requires some active physical exertion when working on the shop floor and detailing as built drawings.
* Experience with Microsoft Office products and other application software with the ability to learn additional application software when required
* Other Duties: Evaluates customer requests for special documentation

* Work requires accurate and coordinated manual skills. Work requires mostly moderate physical exertion.
