Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, a GREAT PLACE, doing GREAT THINGS, because of GREAT PEOPLE, is seeking applicants to fill a Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator position. This is a full-time/salaried positon with benefits. Examples of benefits provided include paid time off that includes 13 holidays, annual leave, sick and personal leave. Additional benefit information is available at https://www.dhrm.virginia.gov/employeebenefits ABOUT THE POSITION The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator to join our team. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of contact for the Center's marketing and public relations objectives. The position is responsible for marketing support, social media and website management, content creation, media relations, and community engagement. The position works with key stakeholders and college, university, and facility partners to promote Center activity and programs. The position also serves as a liaison to local and regional media outlets to provide positive and informative messaging related to Center activity. The incumbent will also perform other related duties in the furtherance of the Center's educational mission. Minimum Qualifications * Considerable experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field. * Experience writing, editing, and creating content along with graphic design. * Ability to craft compelling and informative written content in various formats (email copy, website content, brochures, social media posts, etc.). * Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Strong organizational and time management skills with special attention to detail. * Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Additional Considerations * Experience in video editing and production. * Experience in community engagement and public relations. * Proficiency in Canva Pro, Adobe Creative Suite or other video editing software.
