This position serves as an Application Development Programmer/ Analyst for DoIT, supporting the Department of Corrections. In this role you will analyze, design, code, test, implement, document and maintain client-server and web-based applications and subsequent enhancements. In addition, you will develop and maintain data objects within an enterprise-level relational database and assist users in resolving problem areas encountered in the daily operation and use of client-server and web-based applications. Essential Functions Con't 10% Evaluates user information technology needs and analyzes alternative approaches. * Meets with users internally and at external facilities to discuss, address, review and analyze application technology needs, issues, etc. * Presents technical information to others with clarity and precision. * Prepares reports for supervisory and user review, using Word and Excel. 5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field. * Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques and procedures. * Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations. 5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Specialized Skills * Requires one (1) year of professional application development experience designing, coding, testing, implementing, and maintaining client server-based or web-based information systems, utilizing PowerBuilder with PowerBuilder's Foundation classes and/or other object-oriented programming language such as C#, VB.Net. * Requires one (1) year of experience developing and maintaining data objects within an enterprise-level relational database, utilizing MS SQL 2008+ and/or other relational DBMS. * Requires one (1) year of professional experience developing and deploying applications with PowerBuilder IDE, Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, SharePoint, Microsoft Azure DevOps and/or Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Minimum Qualifications * Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields. * Requires one (1) year of professional experience in Application Services or a related Information Technology field. Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance) * One (1) year of professional experience in designing, coding, testing, implementing, and maintaining client-server-based information systems, utilizing PowerBuilder with PowerBuilder's Foundation classes and/or other object-oriented programming language such as C#, VB.Net. * One (1) year of experience developing and maintaining data objects within an enterprise-level relational database, utilizing MS SQL 2008+ and/or other relational DBMS. * One (1) year of professional experience developing and deploying applications with PowerBuilder IDE, Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, SharePoint, Microsoft Azure DevOps and/or Microsoft Dynamics CRM. * One (1) year of professional experience with Windows 10 or higher OS, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Visio for communication, reporting, presentation, etc. purposes. * Working knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques of conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements. * Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature. * Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision. * Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships.
