Pesticide Action & Agroecology Network (PAN) is seeking an experienced and driven finance and operations leader to join our administrative team in Berkeley, California. Position Summary The successful candidate will provide leadership and management of essential finance and operational activities. The position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with financial and operational teams to provide oversight and strategic direction for financial management, budgeting including project-based budgets and financial reporting for grant proposals, accounting, administrative support to fiscal sponsorees, and the operations of the organization including but not limited to contract oversight, registrations, and filings. This job allows for hybrid, flexible work hours with full benefits to the successful Bay Area candidate. About Us PAN’s mission is to end reliance on hazardous pesticides and achieve health, resilience and justice in food and farming. For 40 years, we have worked with partners to conduct high-impact campaigns and advocacy for food system transformation at the state, national and international levels. Our staff works in coalition with groups rooted in communities most impacted by industrial agriculture and hazardous pesticides. Our internal structure is team-based and collaborative. PAN North America is one of five PAN International Regional Centers worldwide. We link local and international consumer, labor, health, environment and agriculture groups into an international citizens’ action network. Together, we challenge the global proliferation of pesticides, support the expansion of sustainable alternatives to pesticides, defend basic rights to health and environmental quality, and work to ensure the transition to a just and viable food system. Position Details: Job Type : 0.75 FTE (Full Time Equivalent), 27 hours per week (75% of a 36-hour work week), Exempt from overtime pay Location:

Hybrid. Work is performed remotely and in-person at least one day per week at our office in Berkeley, CA. Compensation:

Specific Responsibilities Financial Leadership (60%)

Financial oversight and strategic direction: Maintain up to date budgets, financial reports, monitor spending, and provide budgeting guidance. Support multi-year future forecasting and scenario planning. Support ease of program budgeting and assist with budget alignment and revisions. Grant Management: Project-based budgeting, grant budget proposals and financial reporting for grant awards. Accurate release and tracking of restricted funds. Audit and Financial Reporting: Oversee audits and 990 filings, manage financial statements. Fiscal Sponsorees: Oversight of financial accounting and budgeting support for PAN’s fiscal sponsorees. Collaboration: Work in collaboration with the fundraising, administration, and program teams. Compliance and Standards: Process and approve financial and contractual agreements and reporting using best practices including internal controls and risk management. Board Communication: Support Board and organizational financial communication with exceptional skills in translating complex budget information to staff and the Board. Operations and Administration (35%)

Operational Sustainability: Develop and implement processes that maintain the operational functioning of the organization, in compliance with relevant laws, including organizational registrations, state filings and legal compliance. Fiscally Sponsored Projects: Positively collaborate with fiscally sponsored organizations to assist with administrative needs. Negotiate and oversee office lease and office moves as needed by the organization. Maintain utilities and subscriptions needed for the functioning of the organization. Performance Management: Work in alignment with Strategic Plan. Supervision: Supervise the Staff Accountant, Office Administrator and IT Consultant. Employee Relations: Ensure equity, diversity and inclusion principles are followed in all aspects of the operations and financial management of the organization. Risk Management: Monitor and keep up-to-date with federal and state laws, including compliance with several state laws related to 501(c)(3) operations. Other Responsibilities (5%)

Other job-related duties as assigned. Supervision and Organizational Relationships This position reports to the Executive Director. This position supervises three roles within the Admin and Finance Hub: Staff Accountant, Office Administrator, and IT Consultant. Essential Required Skills At least 4 years experience directing finance and accounting in a nonprofit setting. Experience at an advocacy or social justice organization preferred (not required). Ability to lead finance and operations to ensure organizational goals are achieved. Track record of efficiency in operational and financial processes. Experience in managing other staff, assessing workloads, delegating effectively, supporting team members, and managing timely outcomes while maintaining a balanced and productive environment that supports the professional development of staff. Qualifications and Experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate financial management concepts to internal and external stakeholders. Bachelor’s Degree preferred Budgeting and forecasting experience. Experience generating financial reports and analyzing and interpreting data. Proficient with MS Excel and Salesforce Experience in MIP accounting is preferred, but not required. Experience in leading nonprofit operations and administration.
