Step into the dynamic role of Product Component Engineer (PCE), where you'll be the go-to technical guru for optical, electrical, and mechanical components, as well as materials and related process support. In this exciting position, you'll bridge the gap between the Collins Aerospace Component Engineering Team and local Design Engineering, guiding crucial decisions in part, supplier, and process selection. As a PCE, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the overall product design from New Product Introduction (NPI) through to ensuring the health and producibility of the product. What You Will Do: * Understand preferred technologies, sources of supply, and acceptance criteria for commodities used on assigned programs. * Apply techniques for the documentation and release of components, processes, and design guidelines associated with assigned programs. * Review Bills of Materials (BOM) to ensure maximum health (technology, life cycle, source of supply, etc) * Perform Failure and Root Cause Analysis and corrective action on assigned programs. * Identify, evaluate, and recommend new components or materials and manufacturers for new product requirements and for improving existing manufacturing process yields. * Analyze parametric data, preference codes, and obsolescence prediction data for components in assigned programs. * General technical support including activities associated with Bidding/Negotiating, Data Collection, and Analysis. Report Generation related to technical issues including but not limited to; Hazardous Material, fungus, shelf life, ESD, flammability, etc. * Connect design teams with Producibility and Design to Cost Functions to achieve minimum cost and optimal performance in Collins designs. * Take ownership of all regional parts related to local programs. * Individual job duties may vary. What You Will Learn: * Technical Expertise: Deepen your understanding of optical, electrical, and mechanical components, materials, and related processes. * Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with diverse teams, including Design, Manufacturing, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Quality, to drive projects forward. * Process Optimization: Learn to optimize part, supplier, and process selection, ensuring the best fit for each project. * Product Design and NPI: Engage in the complete product design lifecycle, from New Product Introduction (NPI) to production, ensuring component health and producibility. * Stakeholder Influence: Develop the ability to navigate and influence stakeholders at multiple levels within a matrixed corporate environment. * Problem-Solving: Enhance your problem-solving skills by addressing complex challenges in component engineering and production. * Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and products, driving innovation within the company. * Liaison Skills: Serve as a crucial liaison between different engineering teams, honing your communication and negotiation skills. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
