The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts. The Richmond & Henrico County Health Districts (RHHD) are on the forefront of Public Health and Population Health. Our mission is to protect health, champion equity, and partner to address local needs. We accomplish this by exposing and addressing the root causes of health disparities and protecting health through disease prevention and monitoring, providing clinical services, nutrition services, environmental health services, vital records, emergency planning, and building health equity by partnering with communities and working collaboratively across sectors. WE ARE PUBLIC HEALTH! RHHD is currently seeking a Public Relations Specialist. Public Relations Specialists are responsible for public relations on a district-wide basis or in the central office for part of an agency-wide program, including communications and public awareness programs for fund raising, public/media relations, design and distribution of publications, promotion of services or programs to other public and private sector groups and media representatives. May deliver presentations or speak on behalf of the work unit. Responds to media inquiries or promotes programs. Work is carried out independently, with management being informed of potentially sensitive activities. This position will focus on RHHD's Social Media efforts but will support other communications work as needed. This incumbent will be expected to work in our Richmond Health District office (400 E. Cary St.), our Henrico Health District office (8600 Dixon Powers Dr) and other offsite areas in the community as needed. Mileage reimbursement is available for any work-related travel. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Minimum Qualifications * Experience in public relations and marketing, with work experience in broadcast media, print media, commercial art, or compatible field; proficient in MS Office Suite. * Strong computer skills and knowledge of professional design and communications. * Must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing; maintain confidentiality when appropriate. * Must be able to work with multiple priorities. * Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Additional Considerations * Experience in developing a comprehensive social media strategy. * Experience managing an organization's presence on various social networks, such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. * Strong project management skills.
