General Description The Senior Therapist is a valuable member of our Behavior Services team who provides evaluation, psycho-social education and mentoring, and treatment service to clients, and assists clients in developing and accomplishing treatment goals in individual and group settings. Provides consultation and education to community groups, and emergency services. Competently works with clients with coexisting disorders. In CABS, responsible for providing screening, assessment, and support services to clients who are at risk of psychiatric hospitalization, who are psychiatrically hospitalized, or who are being discharged from psychiatric hospitalization. Particularly target youth that are wards of the Department of Children and Family Services and youth being considered for psychiatric hospitalization with the Department of Human Services. To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who * Provides community education services as assigned and as self-initiated. Essential Functions * Provides crisis intervention services to stabilize and assess the need for, and, if possible deflect a client from psychiatric hospitalization. * Secures and coordinates mental health services for the client between various providers, DCFS workers, and the client or the client's caretaker. * Conducts home visits and outreach, as needed, as appropriate to the program. * Facilitates clinical consultation, as assigned. * May coordinate PAS screenings, including staff assignments, screening completion, and training. * Provides input into the scope, types, and evaluation of clinical and administrative programming that is offered utilizing published best practices and empirically proven clinical methodologies in the delivery of client care. * Serve as a backup for problem-solving and decision-making in the absence of program managers and or may supervise students /interns as assigned by the Program Coordinator. * Ensures effective communication among all staff regarding administrative and clinical issues. * In the role of clinical supervisor, ensures that staff is trained on quality improvement concepts, tools, and techniques. * Maintains detailed awareness of duties performed by supervisees. * Trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates staff and students, as needed. * Maintains accountability standards required by LCHD/CHC and funding sources relative to the quality and quantity of services provided by staff members. * Conducts, coordinates, and supervises assigned staff including regular review of clinical records. * Recommends to the Program Coordinator the transfer of clients from programs in which they are unable or unwilling to function adequately. * Provides atmosphere of customer service in assuring that clients are treated in a friendly and respectful manner. Displays positive attitudes and behaviors in the accomplishment of job duties. * Involved in quality improvement activities on an ongoing basis (such as implementing processes as a result of performance measurement reviews, participation in councils and teams, and making suggestions to improve a process). * Takes a personal stake in the success of the program. * Performs initial evaluations and assessments of potential clients regarding their appropriateness for participation in the program. * Focuses on client empowerment, evidence-based or adopted best practices in providing treatment, seeking to assist clients to build strengths to meet their treatment needs. * Facilitates with clients and collaborates with the treatment team to develop, review, and update treatment goals and referrals both internally and externally. * Organizes and participates in treatment-related clinical conferences and staffings on assigned clients. * Provides education and direction to clients, family members, and/or significant others. * Takes responsibility for training in and documenting clinical chart requirements to meet program and state standards. * Participates in collection of client fees including completing forms for third-part coverage and discussing balances due with clients, as appropriate. * Acquires and utilizes knowledge of LCHD/CHC database and word processing software and other equipment commensurate with position. * Participates in staff meetings, in-service training, and seminars to facilitate professional growth and maintain licensure if required. Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required Consistent with Community-Based Mental Health Professional Qualifications as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP): * Master's degree in a related field, and * Licensed by the State of Illinois as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and 5yrs. clinical experience; or * Licensed by the State of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) If in a FQHC program: * Licensed by the State of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required Supplemental Information As the largest human service provider in Lake County, we believe that services must be available without barriers.
