Primary Function Responsible for managing and directing areas within Nursing Inpatient, Patient Care Services. Maintains financial stability of the Department and ensures compliance with current national recommendations pertaining to the delivery of patient care. Oversea one Inpatient Unit and have oversight for inpatient throughout hospital; admin on call duty and other duties as assigned. Major Duties and Responsibilities * Works with Nurse Directors by providing leadership and serving as a resource to follow through on issues and problem solving. * Conducts formal and informal meetings to communicate ongoing goals, objectives, progress and related management information and for collaborative planning to meet the goals of the department. * Carries a smaller inpatient unit, see Nurse Directors job description. * Delegates work and authority to nurse directors and monitor/evaluate progress to achieve short/long range goals. * May need to provide coverage for Nurse Director who it out depending on staffing needs. * Works with ACNO of Patient Flow and Access to ensure timely discharges from the inpatient units and timely movement to inpatient floors. Also collaborates on timely Direct Admission process. * Participates in administrator on call coverage for the weekends. * Works with Nursing supervisors on evening and night shifts to ensure collaboration and workflow is completed in a timely and effective manner. * Meets cost and quality standards by demonstrating creativity in responding to health care trends. Submit proposals. Monitor budget and expenses. Address discrepancies. * Identifies and reviews budgetary reports and submit statistical data to administration for recordkeeping. Develops a plan for improvement as variances are identified. * Prepares a range of written reports relating to department, committee and Hospital activities. * Provides cross coverage for CNO and ACNO of Patient Flow and Access. * Provides supervision of nursing supervisors and Nurse Directors and Assistant Nurse Managers as assigned. Assist in managing grievance procedures to handle complaints from unionized employees and advising nursing supervisory staff to ensure compliance with the contract. Job Qualifications and Specifications A Masters or other advanced degree in Nursing/appropriate field preferred and a minimum of five years job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI State Licensure is also required. Ten years of Nursing Experience is preferred.
